An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a prestigious Lloyd’s market insurer and syndicate at a pivotal point in its evolution.
With a new CEO driving a refreshed strategic direction, the business is placing increased emphasis on Conduct Risk, Consumer Duty and customer outcomes , alongside strengthening its overall regulatory and governance framework. Operating within the SME market, the organisation is now looking for a high-calibre individual to help shape and lead this agenda.
The OpportunityThis is a highly visible role sitting at the intersection of Underwriting, Claims, and Compliance , with responsibility for bringing together all aspects of product governance, conduct risk, and regulatory oversight .
You will play a key role in:
- Defining and driving the conduct and consumer duty strategy
- Embedding strong product oversight and governance frameworks
- Acting as a central figure across underwriting and claims to ensure customer-centric decision making
- Providing robust challenge, assessment, and oversight of products and processes
- Leading and chairing the Conduct Risk and Product Oversight Committee
- Engaging with senior stakeholders to drive change and set the vision

Key Responsibilities- Develop and enhance the organisation’s Product Governance and Conduct Risk framework
- Partner closely with Underwriting, Claims, Legal and Compliance teams to ensure regulatory alignment
- Conduct product reviews and “walkthroughs” to assess suitability, value and customer outcomes
- Identify gaps and implement improvements across governance and oversight processes
- Deliver clear MI, reporting and insights to senior leadership and governance forums
- Lead internal committees and engage with regulators where required
- Drive a culture of customer focus, accountability and continuous improvement
- Strong experience in Conduct Risk, Product Governance or Regulatory Compliance within insurance
- Good understanding of FCA/PRA expectations, Consumer Duty and Lloyd’s (desirable)
- Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive change
- Experience working closely with Underwriting and/or Claims teams
- Strong analytical capability with experience using data to inform decisions and oversight
- Confident communicator, able to present at senior and board level
- A proactive, commercially aware individual who can balance regulation with business objectives
