We are seeking a compassionate, experienced, and highly motivated SEN Teacher to join a supportive and inclusive primary school in Tooting, starting as soon as possible. This is a rewarding opportunity for a teacher who is passionate about supporting pupils with special educational needs and is committed to delivering high-quality, personalised education that enables every child to thrive.

The school has a strong reputation for inclusive practice and places pupil wellbeing at the centre of everything it does. Staff work collaboratively to provide a nurturing, structured, and engaging learning environment for pupils with a range of additional needs, including ASD, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional, and mental health needs. Senior leadership is approachable and highly supportive, offering ongoing guidance, mentoring, and professional development.

As an SEN Teacher, you will plan and deliver tailored lessons and interventions designed to meet pupils’ individual needs. You will work closely with teaching assistants, the SENCo, parents, and external professionals to ensure pupils receive consistent and effective support. You will play a vital role in helping pupils develop confidence, independence, and positive learning behaviours.

Key Responsibilities

  • Promote independence, resilience, and positive behaviour

  • Maintain a structured, safe, and inclusive learning environment

  • Track pupil progress and maintain accurate assessment records

  • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, SENCo, and senior leaders

  • Communicate effectively with parents, carers, and external professionals

  • Contribute to staff meetings, CPD sessions, and whole-school initiatives

  • Ensure safeguarding and child protection procedures are followed at all times

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will:

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

  • Have experience teaching pupils with SEND in a primary or specialist setting

  • Be patient, empathetic, and adaptable

  • Demonstrate strong classroom management and organisational skills

  • Be reflective, proactive, and solution-focused

  • Show a strong commitment to inclusion, safeguarding, and pupil wellbeing

  • Work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team

The school is located in Tooting, with excellent transport links and a diverse, supportive community. Staff benefit from a professional, well-resourced, and inclusive working environment where staff wellbeing and development are prioritised.
