The Opportunity
To allow the company to do what is needs to do, it needs excellent legal support. With a focus on its European business, a new role now exists for an International Counsel. This will be the sole lawyer in the European business and will report directly to the GC in the US. In this role, you will take responsibility for a wide range of commercial agreements (sales and distribution, supply and logistics, licensing) as well advising on day-to-day and more strategic business matters for the European markets. You will oversee compliance and corporate governance matters as well as manage the UK legal budget and liaise with external counsel. The company has a complicated legal structure and you will be required seek advice on this and advise the Board accordingly.
About You
A strong corporate/commercial contracts background in the pharmaceutical or healthcare sector would be useful. You may already be an in-house lawyer in a pharmaceutical or life sciences business looking to take a step up, or you might be a corporate/commercial lawyer in private practice who is looking to take a step up into a key role for an international pharmaceutical business. A global mindset and the ability to develop relationships across a global business is essential. You will need to demonstrate flexibility and adaptability and the ability to work in a varied in-house role. Strong communication skills are also essential. This is an excellent opportunity to operate in an autonomous role, working directly with the business.
