Live-in carer (must have a full Drivers licence)

This placement is for a young adult male who lives in Battersea. We need a male carer who can cover 3 or 4 weeks at a time. The first placement I am looking to cover is scheduled for mid-January.

The client has Cerebral Palsy and had a fall in 2019 that badly hurt his back. He went in for an operation in January 2024. This is likely to be a year-long recovery period. He is having physio. All transfers are currently to be made with Sara Steady. The physio has an exercise programme as part of his recovery. This will be guided and updated by his physio. The client is slowly walking again with support from walking aids.

The Client Suffers from Depression and Osteoporosis

Must have a full UK or European driver's license and be willing to drive the Client's vehicle. The mobility vehicle is the size of a transit van.

The client may want to be accompanied on outings and supported with all life admin, including form-filling and returning posts, as well as assistance with correspondence. Confidential information handled is likely to be sensitive.

He will need help with all activities, Personal Care, food preparation, medication administration, and assistance with travelling to church, social events, appointments, and shopping. Please be sure to shop at Lidl or Aldi, and keep on top of housework.

The client enjoys discussing sports, History, Travelling, and, to a certain extent, politics. We are looking for someone with whom he can talk and have a laugh. His Christian faith is very important to him.

The client may need to use his sleep apnoea machine at night. This is mainly when he is in pain.

The client's parents live about an hour's drive away. They are both very supportive.

The client is currently living in a one-bedroom flat, so the carer would sleep on a double pull-out sofa bed in the lounge. There is plenty of storage space to store your belongings. The client has been given a two-bedroomed property in Battersea and is waiting to move in. The daily rate for this client is £135, plus an additional £8 per day for a food allowance.
