We are seeking a motivated, enthusiastic, and committed Year 5 Teacher to join a vibrant and inclusive primary school in Southwark, starting ASAP. This is an excellent opportunity for a Key Stage 2 teacher who enjoys delivering engaging lessons, supporting pupils’ academic progress, and preparing them for the challenges of upper KS2.
The school has a strong community ethos and serves a diverse pupil population. Staff work collaboratively in a supportive environment where high expectations, inclusion, and pupil wellbeing are central to everything they do. The leadership team is experienced and approachable, offering clear guidance, shared planning, and ongoing professional development.
As a Year 5 Teacher, you will be responsible for planning, delivering, and assessing high-quality lessons across the curriculum. You will support pupils as they develop greater independence, resilience, and critical thinking skills, while ensuring learning is accessible and engaging for all pupils, including those with SEN and EAL.
Key Responsibilities

Assess, track, and monitor pupil progress using effective assessment strategies
Differentiate learning to meet the needs of all pupils
Promote positive behaviour and high expectations for learning
Prepare pupils for the academic demands of Year 6
Create a structured, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment
Work closely with teaching assistants and KS2 colleagues
Communicate effectively with parents and carers about progress and attainment
Contribute to staff meetings, planning sessions, and school improvement initiatives
Follow safeguarding, health and safety, and school policies at all times

Have recent experience teaching in Key Stage 2, ideally Year 5
Be confident delivering the KS2 curriculum
Have strong classroom management and organisational skills
Be reflective, enthusiastic, and pupil-focused

Be committed to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing
