Data Operations Specialist (Hiring Immediately)
We’re looking for a Data Operations Specialist to join our Data & AI team on a 9 month fixed term contract. We are a diverse team, and strongly encourage applications from all genders, men, women and non-binary people. Code First Girls offers family-friendly, flexible working arrangements. With an office on Old Street, we offer hybrid working with one day in the office a week, or as required for the role. ABOUT THE COMPANY Code First Girls is on a mission to close the gender gap in the tech industry by providing employment through free education. We’ve already helped more than 300,000 women learn to code, and by working with companies globally, we’re boosting employability, diversity and social mobility, transforming local economies and communities. But we are expanding further with the launch of our Code First Teams brand (for employee training) and opening up more international opportunities and markets with our client partners. ABOUT YOU & THE ROLE As a Data Operations Specialist within the Data & AI team, you will play a hands-on role in building and maintaining our operational data infrastructure. This role operates at the heart of our business, understanding that data powers everything we do (from enrolling a student to tracking a corporate partnership). You will be a vital link between the Data team and the rest of the organisation, ensuring our systems support the entire student and client lifecycle. SOME THINGS YOU’LL BE WORKING ON We are looking for someone to shape how operational data is structured, captured and managed across our systems: Data Migrations & Transformation: Take a hands-on role in cleaning, mapping and importing legacy data into our new system architecture. Structuring Data Properties: Determine how we capture complex data points to ensure system logic supports everything from automated triggers to business reporting. Designing Data Collection: Lead the technical setup of forms, balancing user-facing phrasing with technical field mapping to ensure clean data from the source. Translating Business Requirements: Act as a bridge between technical and non-technical teams, defining exactly what data needs to be captured to measure success. Managing Change: Assess how updates to properties or fields impact existing workflows or automations to ensure business-as-usual remains stable. Integration Management: Help configure and monitor the logic between HubSpot, our LMS, and other tools via Zapier. WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR This list reflects our ideal candidate, but we don’t expect you to tick every box. If this role excites you and you think you could grow into it, we’d love to hear from you. We value potential, curiosity and mindset as much as existing skills. A Logical Problem Solver: You enjoy if this, then that scenarios and have the curiosity to troubleshoot why a process might be failing. A Systems Thinker: You are fascinated by how different platforms interact. You enjoy mapping the journey of information through a tech stack to produce a specific outcome. Commitment to Data Integrity: You understand that bad data leads to bad decisions. You are meticulous about the details, ensuring every form field, property, and automation is set up to capture high-quality, reliable information that the whole company can trust. A Concise Communicator: You can condense complex technical workflows into simple terms for non-technical stakeholders. Growth, Curiosity and Integrity: You are a lifelong learner who is excited to explore how AI can augment your work and accelerate your technical growth. You bring a balanced perspective to new technology, ensuring that as we innovate, we stay committed to ethical data practices and rigorous security standards that protect our community. Technical Aptitude: You have an understanding of database and SQL fundamentals. You understand concepts like unique identifiers, associations and data types. Familiarity with HubSpot (specifically forms, workflows and property management) is a major plus. An understanding of how integrations work (e.g. how an external tool updates a field in a CRM). Experience with Zapier is highly desirable. Basic knowledge of SQL or Python is a bonus. Experience with WP Fusion or basic knowledge of APIs is a bonus, but not essential. Why Join Us? At Code First Girls, you will lead impactful initiatives that empower women in technology. Join a passionate team committed to making a difference, and play a crucial role in shaping the future of our organisation and the industry at large. BENEFITS: Salary : £35k to £45k DOE Annual leave: 20 days + 7 days over Christmas + 1 Special Occasion Day (+ 8 bank holiday days). Optional: Buy or sell 3 days of holiday, 1 Giving back day, option to work 2 days over the festive period and get additional days back. Phased return to the office for the primary caregiver (work for 4 days at full pay for 2 months). Flexible working: Our standard working hours are 9.30am - 5.30pm, but we offer flexibility to fit your work around your life. Free CFGdegree education: After working at CFG for 6 months you are able to take our 16 week CFGdegree, worth £10,000 of education! 6% matched pension: CFG will match your pension contribution up to 6%. Mental health support: Free access to Spill, which offers employees free workplace support therapy sessions.
