Quality Control Team Lead

YouLend
London

About Us

YouLend is a rapidly growing FinTech that is the preferred embedded financing platform for many of the world’s leading e-commerce platforms, tech companies, and Payment Service Providers. Our software platform enables our partners to extend their value proposition by offering flexible financing products in their own branding, to their merchant base, without capital at risk.

We are owned by the leading Private Equity company, EQT, and have grown +100% year-on-year since 2020. We are headquartered in London, UK, but are also present in several European countries as well as the United States where we service our partners, including eBay, Amazon, Just Eat, Shopify, and Stripe.

The Role

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Quality Control Team Lead to join our Production Line function and lead our Quality Control capability. This role is critical in ensuring lending decisions are consistent, policy-compliant, and high quality across the business.

The QC Team Lead will manage a small team of QC Associates, own the QC framework end-to-end, and act as a key escalation point for complex or borderline credit decisions. You will play a central role in translating QC findings into actionable improvements, and partnering closely with Risk, Product, and Operations teams to continuously strengthen overall decision quality and governance as YouLend scales.

Requirements

Responsibilities:

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead, manage, and coach a team of QC Associates, looking at multiple decision areas (Underwriting and Fraud), setting clear priorities and ensuring ongoing growth and development.
  • Support the development of sound judgement, policy interpretation, and time management across the team.
  • Ensure monthly QC minimums, targeted reviews, and thematic checks are completed accurately and on time.

Quality Control Framework Ownership

  • Own and maintain the QC framework, including review standards, sampling methodologies, and escalation processes.
  • Ensure the QC framework is consistently followed and updated in line with policy, product, or regulatory changes.
  • Act as a point of escalation for complex, nuanced, or borderline underwriting decisions.

Policy & Risk Oversight

  • Ensure consistent and accurate application of credit policy and QC standards across the team.
  • Lead deep-dive reviews and targeted thematic analysis (e.g. underwriting risk, fraud trends, or emerging control weaknesses).
  • Identify systemic issues, policy ambiguities, or training gaps and drive remediation actions.

Insight, Reporting & Continuous Improvement

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present QC insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Define, monitor, and own QC actions, ensuring findings from QC reviews translate into tangible improvements.
  • Own regular QC reporting (e.g. monthly reviews), including root-cause identification.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Risk, Product, and Operations to embed QC insights into policy, process, and automation improvements.
  • Credibility to influence decisions and drive change through data-backed recommendations

Essential Skills:

  • Strong underwriting experience within financial services (Minimum 3 years & Mandate Holding)
  • Proven QC experience within a Quality Control or Assurance function
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • People management experience, including coaching and development
  • Strong stakeholder management skills across Risk, Product, and Operations
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret, apply, and challenge credit policies
  • Experience owning or contributing to QC frameworks, reviews, and sampling methodologies
  • Experience producing QC reporting with trend and root-cause analysis
