Engineering Lead, Cyber Engineering
Hello, let us introduce ourselves!
watchTowr is the Preemptive Exposure Management capability trusted by Fortune 500 companies and critical infrastructure providers.
By combining proactive threat intelligence, real attacker telemetry, and automated red teaming, watchTowr continuously identifies and validates real exposure - so security teams can outrun real-world threats.
When exploitation happens in hours, watchTowr delivers what no one else can: time to respond.
We are a global team of operators, researchers, and engineers who have spent years thinking like attackers - and we are now building the technology to stop them. Our work is recognised across the industry, with original vulnerability research from watchTowr Labs and innovations like Instinct and Attacker Eye shaping the future of cybersecurity.
Backed by $29M in funding, recognised by Gartner, and scaling fast across the globe, we are in a high-growth phase of our journey. We are a young, high-energy, and research-driven team, obsessed with building world-class technology - and we want exceptional people to join us.
But what’s the role?
We are looking for an ambitious and hands-on Engineering Lead for our Cyber Engineering Squad to join us a "player-coach" with the technical expertise to dive deep into complex security and engineering challenges while coaching and leading a growing team. This is an exciting opportunity to architect, build and scale our offensive security capabilities while playing a key role in helping organisations understand how they could be hacked, in real-time.
Sounds great – what will I do?
You will lead and mentor the Cyber Engineering team in the UK and Singapore, providing both technical guidance and leadership to support their growth in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
You will report into and work closely with the Head of Labs Engineering to define the future direction of the cyber engineering function aligned with the global strategy, ensuring technical consistency and shared standards.
You will act as line manager for the engineers, including performance reviews, career development, and day-to-day coaching.
You will design, develop, and maintain the offensive security infrastructure that powers the watchTowr Platform, ensuring it can process vast amounts of data and identify vulnerabilities in enterprise systems at scale.
You will collaborate closely with product, front-end, backend, and platform teams to align cyber security initiatives with business goals and ensure seamless integration across functions.
You will drive innovation and lead R&D projects that push the limits of offensive security, replicating adversary tactics at scale to uncover vulnerabilities and provide actionable insights.
Sounds perfect to me, what specifics are you looking for?
Ideal Experience
We’re looking for someone with 5 or more years of experience who has:
Demonstrated success as a hands-on leader who can roll up their sleeves and dive into technical challenges while coaching and developing high-performing teams.
Led and managed engineering teams, including responsibility for performance reviews and team development, scaling teams globally and building capabilities from the ground up.
Experience working in an early-stage B2B startup focusing on enterprise clients.
Experience in building and deploying offensive security solutions, with a deep understanding of adversary tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs).
Proven experience in architecting and scaling cloud-based solutions to support intensive data processing and real-time threat analysis.
Written clean, maintainable, and testable code, with proficiency in Python and Go, with a strong emphasis on building scalable, maintainable code.
Architected complex systems using advanced patterns that can perform activities at an internet wide scale.
Proven ability to thrive under pressure and adapt to shifting priorities.
Proactive, collaborative, and ownership-driven mindset.
Passion for continuous improvement and innovation.
Ability to learn quickly and apply new concepts effectively.
Bonus Experience
You’ll stand out if you:
Have worked on and/or contributed to open source projects
Have experience working with significant amounts of data and handling ‘big data’ for security analysis
Have a strong hands-on understanding of offensive security (e.g., red teaming experience, vulnerability research, or capture the flag competitions).
What’s in it for me?
Competitive compensation - we believe that hard work, skills and ambition should be fairly compensated.
Meaningful role in a company - You will be a key and early contributor to a fast-growing cybersecurity business that helps protect some of the world's largest enterprises.
The best tools and powerful kit - we enable you with the tools to effectively fulfil your role.
Endless opportunities – we are in a high-growth phase of our journey, and plan to promote from within as we scale.
Work with cyber security experts – we are solving cutting-edge industry-wide cyber security challenges with some of the world’s most advanced organisations.
