Senior Building Surveyor (Hiring Immediately)

Location - National (flexible base location with travel required as needed)

This exciting, newly created opportunity for an experienced Building Surveyor will play a key role in shaping safe, efficient and future ready buildings across our national estate. This is a hands-on, onsite role where you’ll use your technical surveying expertise to support new builds, refurbishments, defect investigations and estate improvement projects. The Role
- As a Building Surveyor you will carry out detailed building fabric surveys, condition assessments and intrusive investigations.
- Producing technical reports, feasibility studies, scopes, specifications and schedules of work.
- Supporting fabric design development, including layouts, detailing, compliance reviews and performance standards.
- Managing building condition data, asset lifecycle assessments and investment recommendations.
- Preparing tender documentation such as specifications, Bills of Quantities and quality standards.
- Providing technical assurance on site, including inspections, compliance checks, snagging and support through defects and warranty periods.
- Ensuring full compliance with Building Regulations, fire safety, access standards, planning constraints and internal governance requirements.
- Working with CDM duty holders to manage design risks, safe construction methods and clear communication of residual risks.
Skills & Experience
- Strong building surveying background with experience in fabric assessment, defect diagnosis and technical reporting.
- Good knowledge of Building Regulations, fire safety, access standards and compliance frameworks.
- Ability to produce scopes, specifications, drawings and other technical documents.
- Confident in design risk management with practical experience of CDM 2015 and construction H&S legislation.
- Highly organised, able to juggle multiple projects while maintaining governance and accurate records.
- Strong communicator with the ability to influence stakeholders across project teams, contractors and internal partners.
- Experience working on refurbishment, planned maintenance or compliance based projects, ideally within a construction or estates environment.
- Experience working with multidisciplinary engineering teams and contributing to design assurance or technical governance.
Qualifications
- Degree in Building Surveying or significant equivalent experience.
- MRICS status or working towards it (preferred).
