Assistant Development Manager - London, SE16
We’re looking for an Assistant Development Manager to oversee the smooth operation of a high end residential development based in London, ensuring a high-quality living environment for residents while maintaining the property to the highest standards.
Location: London, SE16
Salary: £40,000
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8am-5pm
The Role
We are seeking a proactive and dedicated Assistant Development Manager to support the day-to-day operations of a high-end residential development. This role is pivotal in maintaining exceptional standards across the estate, ensuring the smooth running of services, and delivering outstanding customer service to residents and visitors alike.
Working closely with the Development Manager, you will oversee site-based staff, manage both planned and reactive maintenance, and ensure the development remains a safe, clean, and welcoming environment.
What You’ll Do
Building Management
Conduct daily inspections of communal areas, identifying maintenance issues and health and safety risks.
Manage and monitor contractors, ensuring work is completed safely and to a high standard.
Coordinate planned maintenance in line with the development’s schedule.
Oversee stock control and procurement of essential supplies.
Carry out routine system testing (e.g. fire alarms, emergency lighting).
Support refuse management and ensure bin stores are clean and accessible.
Assist with budget preparation and ensure service charge funds are used appropriately.
Maintain a visible presence on-site, ensuring the development is always well-presented.
Maintenance & Repairs
Request quotes, issue work orders, and coordinate repairs.
Follow up on emergency and reactive maintenance, ensuring timely resolution.
Communicate effectively with residents regarding repair updates
Resident Services
Manage front-of-house services including parcel and key handling.
Issue and monitor licences (e.g. pets, alterations, subletting).
Welcome new residents and introduce them to the development and its rules.
Monitor move-ins/outs to minimise disruption and damage.
Act as the first point of contact for residents regarding communal issues.
Maintain the on-site noticeboard and support resident communications.
Team Leadership
Lead and support on-site staff including cleaning and security teams.
Design and implement cleaning and security service scopes.
Manage staff inductions, training, appraisals, and holiday/sickness records.
Ensure all team members are equipped to perform their roles effectively.
Uphold and enforce company policies and procedures.
What You’ll Bring
Experience
Proven experience working in prestigious residential developments or similar environments such as hospitality or armed forces.
Strong leadership skills, with experience mentoring and developing teams.
Contractor management expertise, including assessing and approving works.
Financial management experience (desirable).
Skills
Exceptional time management and task prioritisation.
Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
