Associate Director - Fire & Life Safety

Our areas of expertise are represented in four core verticals: Building Engineering, Planning and Infrastructure, Strategy and Advisory and Commissioning, Handover and Asset Management.

JOB PURPOSE
Successful delivery of Fire & Life Safety projects in a timely manner and on budget.
Successful retention of key clients and repeat work.
Protect AESG liability across all Fire & Life Safety projects.
Assist Divisional Leadership in maintaining healthy staff satisfaction levels and retention of key employees.
QUALIFICATION / EXPERIENCE
Recognised relevant Engineering degree, ideally qualified to MSc degree level with relevant academic or with post academic professional qualifications to carry out the role
A minimum of 15+ years of professional experience in a similar industry
8+ years strong management experience, leading a team of subject matter experts.
Chartered Engineer with the Institute Fire Engineers or equivalent (or applying).
GENERAL EXPECTANCY
Proven track record of delivering projects and assisting in driving organisational growth and success.
Support Divisional and Executive Leadership as a key team member.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead the delivery of Fire & Life Safety projects.
Support Strategic expansion of competent offering to align with targeted Clients and sectors through strategic resourcing (personnel, facilities).
Positioning of AESG as a ‘trusted consultant’ to key Clients and industries and increase both market share and reputation internationally.
Lead the technical delivery of projects working with project team Engineers, Seniors, Associates and Principal Consultants throughout all project phases, including report and drawings reviewing, modelling and simulations, site inspections and visits, audits, AHJ and Clients meetings and presentations, and project sign off.
Assist Divisional Leadership where required with the QAQC within the department across all Fire & Life Safety services, including technical accuracy, project delivery, and quality standards.
Assist with training of junior and intermediate employees, including development and delivery of recruitment needs, and support companywide training and ongoing mentoring/coaching programs.
Assist Divisional Leadership where required with the department project management plan and structure towards successful and sustainable projects delivery across all Fire & Life Safety services. This will include resourcing, commercial and the financial status of the projects.
Assist Divisional Leadership with the development of procedures to improve division function and efficiency.
Play a key role in the department marketing within Fire & Life Safety industry including whitepapers, conferences, seminars, and other industry events.

HSE Responsibilities:
Ensure compliance with the IMS system and culture of safety, sustainability and continuous improvement and the company’s culture, philosophy and approach is exemplified and fostered.
Ensure adherence and compliance with all work health and safety and environmental legal requirements (including subcontractors), taking proactive steps to provide a safe workplace and safe ways of working.

Creativity / Innovation: Responsible for implementing the organisation's overall innovation strategy. Work closely with top executives to align innovation efforts with business goals. Allocate resources strategically and drive a culture of continuous improvement and creativity.
Client Focus / Relationship Building: Maintain and develop high levels of Client relationship management. Be a trusted advisor for multiple high-end Clients in the private and public sector. Problem solving across multiple tasks internally and externally.
Strategic Vision / Planning: Shaping the organisation's long-term strategies and driving innovation across multiple divisions and having a significant influence on the company's direction. Collaborate closely with executives to develop long-term plans, set ambitious goals, and allocate resources strategically.
DEMONSTRATED KNOWLEDGE BASE AND PROFESSIONAL SKILLSET
Time Management / Planning: At this level, individuals are responsible for the overall operational efficiency of a department or division. They are experts in optimising processes, eliminating bottlenecks, and ensuring that projects and tasks are aligned with the organisation's strategic objectives.
Industry Experience / Thought Leadership: Peer-reviewed and industry-recognised technical leadership. Involved in speaking engagements, interviews and guest appearances in relevant media. Devise and develop solutions to support the industry and resolve complex challenges.
Project Management / Operational Delivery: Have managed a multi-faceted project value exceeding ($10m) from inception to completion with high-level of Client feedback. Independently manage high-level, complex projects.
Leadership / Team Management Experience: Technical leadership within the division and the industry. They often collaborate with other department heads and senior leadership. Uphold AESG Core Values.
Commercial Acumen / Business Development: Strong grasp of financial management, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting. Responsible for overseeing and optimising the financial performance of their division. They regularly analyse profitability, assessing the revenue generated, cost structures, and margins. They identify areas where profitability can be improved and develop strategies to achieve this.
Problem Solving / Decision Making: As directors, individuals lead and oversee decision-making processes that impact AESG as a whole. They set the strategic direction for their respective areas and ensure that decisions are aligned with the company's overarching goals and strategies.
Employee Focus / Process Compliance: Individuals have a profound influence on the entire employee ecosystem. They are responsible for orchestrating the most comprehensive and innovative employee-centric strategies. This includes designing groundbreaking HR policies, shaping organisational culture, and making decisions that have a lasting impact on the employee experience.
