The Opportunity

Wayman Education is seeking a dedicated and proactive Site Manager for an immediate start at a thriving school in Hillingdon. This is a vital leadership role responsible for the safety, security, and maintenance of the school estate, ensuring that the physical environment fully supports the learning and wellbeing of all students.

The Role

As the Site Manager, you will take full ownership of the school premises. You will lead a small team of caretaking and cleaning staff, overseeing everything from daily reactive repairs to long-term capital improvement projects and statutory compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Estate Management: Oversee the maintenance of buildings, grounds, and utilities, ensuring the site is clean, safe, and welcoming at all times.

• Health & Safety: Act as the school’s Lead for H&S, managing fire safety, water hygiene (Legionella), asbestos registers, and regular risk assessments.

• Contractor Management: Source, brief, and supervise external contractors for specialized works, ensuring all projects are completed on time, within budget, and safely.

• Security & Lettings: Manage the security of the site, including CCTV, alarm systems, and the locking/unlocking of the premises. You will also oversee the operational side of out-of-hours school lettings.

• Budget Oversight: Manage the premises budget, identifying cost-saving opportunities and ensuring value for money on all repairs and renewals.

Requirements

• Proven experience in facilities management, site supervision, or a senior caretaking role (preferably within a school or public sector environment).

• Strong knowledge of Health & Safety legislation, including COSHH, IOSH, or NEBOSH qualifications.

• Practical "handyman" skills with the ability to perform or oversee minor plumbing, carpentry, and electrical repairs.

• Excellent communication skills and the ability to manage a team and external contractors effectively.

• Proficiency in basic IT for managing helpdesk requests, emails, and compliance documentation.
