Senior Motion Designer

As a Senior Motion Designer, you’ll play a key role in shaping how the Starling brand moves, behaves and feels across every touchpoint. You’ll create expressive, thoughtful motion work that brings clarity, warmth and energy to our brand, from campaigns and social to product moments and advertising.
You’ll be comfortable owning motion projects end to end, collaborating closely with brand designers, writers, product teams and marketers. You’ll bring strong craft, clear thinking and a point of view, while helping raise the bar for motion across the wider design team.
Key Responsibilities
Creative Execution and Motion Craft:
- Deliver high-quality motion design across a wide range of formats, including brand films, social content, UI motion, campaigns and product storytelling
- Translate creative briefs into clear motion concepts and refined executions
- Take ownership of motion projects from concept through to final delivery
- Bring a high level of craft, clarity and consistency to animation, timing, pacing and transitions
- Present motion work clearly and confidently to peers and stakeholders
Collaboration and Team Contribution:
- Work closely with brand designers, writers, product designers, marketers and engineers to ensure your work looks incredible across touchpoints
- Partner with senior creatives to define motion approaches within larger campaigns
- Support and guide junior and mid-weight designers on motion craft and execution
- Contribute constructively to creative reviews with ideas, references and feedback
- Build strong working relationships across the creative team and wider business
Brand Application and Motion Language:
- Apply and develop Starling’s visual identity thoughtfully in motion across all touchpoints
- Help define and evolve our motion language, principles and patterns
- Ensure consistency between static brand assets and motion executions
- Uphold high standards in typography animation, transitions, rhythm and visual clarity
Creative Thinking and Development:
- Stay up to date with motion design trends, tools and techniques and share your creative pov with the wider team
- Bring new ideas and fresh perspectives into the studio
- Push for expressive but purposeful motion that serves both brand and user needs
- Take initiative in developing your own skills and sharing knowledge with the team
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in motion design within a brand, marketing or creative studio environment
- A portfolio that demonstrates strong motion craft, storytelling and original thinking
- Experience working within a visual identity or brand system
- High level of knowledge with tools such as After Effects, Premiere Pro, and Adobe Creative Suite
- Experience with 3D tools (Cinema 4D, Blender or similar) as well as digital native tools (Rive, Lottie etc) is a strong plus
- Strong understanding of timing, pacing and visual rhythm
- Confidence presenting your work and explaining creative decisions
- A collaborative mindset with a high bar for craft and detail
