Product Design Lead

Ravio Technologies Ltd.
London

We help companies get compensation right.

What we get paid at work has a massive impact on our lives, and it's one of the biggest factors in hiring and retaining talent - and yet so many companies struggle to get it right. They simply have no choice but to rely on poor data and unsophisticated tools for their pay decisions. That's why we created Ravio.

We help many of the world's most innovative and ambitious companies build stronger teams and reach their goals through better compensation. Our real-time data platform brings compensation into the modern age with clarity and transparency.

Ravio is growing fast, which means you can too. We've established ourselves as the European leader in our space serving more than 1,400 clients, and now have our sights set on becoming the global go to place for compensation data and tools for managing compensation.

Joining a startup and scaling it into a global product is one of the most challenging and rewarding experiences a career can offer. If that sounds exciting to you, you're in the right place.

Who we're looking for

We're looking for a talented, hands-on team player to lead our Product Design team. You'll be responsible for designing the full Ravio product working closely with our founders, designers, product managers, engineers, commercial teams and customers.

As the Design Lead at Ravio, you will own the end-to-end product design lifecycle, from research and discovery to design and development. You'll be expected to

  • Lead the Product Design function within the company

  • Work alongside our product designers in designing all aspects of the Ravio application

  • Oversee, mentor, and line manage two designers, with the opportunity to expand into more management if you would like as the team grows

  • Develop a close understanding of and empathy with our users, and deep domain knowledge of the compensation space

  • Manage product design processes and ways of working, collaborating with Product on roadmaps and backlogs

  • Evolve our design capabilities including our tooling stack and extensible design system

  • Partner with engineers, product managers and the broader team to make quick, collaborative decisions

  • Conduct user research, usability testing of wireframes and prototypes, and design analysis to inform and iterate on design decisions

  • Foster design team culture, making it a positive, inclusive, accountable and fun environment where people enjoy doing their best work

You'll be reporting directly to Raymond (co-founder and CPTO).

You'll be a great fit for the role if you have / Your key skills and experience

Who you are / You'll fit right into the team if this describes you / Your qualities

  • 6+ years in software product design roles, currently working in a lead or senior design role. Bonus points for SaaS experience.

  • A full-stack designer; whilst you may have a specialism, you're an experienced expert on all things design from research and testing, to Figma and design systems, to the latest design thinking and trends.

  • Experience working with high velocity product and engineering teams. We ship fast.

  • Comfortable speaking to users, and effective at gleaning the insights you need to develop a delightful product.

  • Played a big part in evolving design processes, and creating amazing team cultures in your previous roles.

  • You enjoy obsessing over small details to take designs to the next level, and zooming out to understand and solve bigger picture problems.

If you don't have all of the above we'd still love to hear from you if you believe you have what it takes and can substantiate it with your previous design work.

We're also open to tweaking the role if you're an incredible designer and would prefer not to have any management responsibilities.

Regardless of experience,

  • Your best work is world class. You love, live and breathe design - you can't turn your design eye off, you see it in everything you do.

  • Whilst you might not know much about compensation yet, you back yourself to rapidly upskill and learn about a new domain and develop a close understanding and empathy with our users.

  • Collaborative and low ego - just like the rest of the team. You enjoy receiving feedback on designs from colleagues and the challenge of iterating and polishing until you end up with something truly delightful. Similarly you're great at discussing and giving feedback to fellow designers and other team members about designs, ways of working and more.

Design at Ravio in 2025

Put simply - the stage of our company and this role are a great fit for someone who primarily wants to keep getting their hands dirty as a designer, and also wants the responsibility of being a leader within the company and line manager of a small design team.

At Ravio we care about design a whole lot more than your average software company. And we put our money where our mouth is - right from when we founded Ravio we've had a high ratio of designers to engineers and product managers.

Hiring a Principal Designer is a continuation of our focus and investment in design. You'll be our most senior designer, mentor our other designers, and will join our founders in recruiting for the team in the future. Your design work will be a mixture of creating totally new product areas from scratch, and taking our existing modules to new levels.

We're passionate about creating the best-looking and easiest to use product in our category. We're already considered by many to be the best-designed product in our space, but we know (and can't help but see!) there's a whole lot more we can do. We're looking for you to lead that.

Compensation & Benefits
  • £80,000 - £120,000 salary

  • Company ownership (everyone gets a meaningful equity stake in Ravio)

  • 37 days paid time off (25 days holiday + 4 wellness days + 8 public holidays)

  • Up to 6% pension matching scheme

  • £60 a month wellness allowance (Invest in your physical wellbeing, on us)

  • Private healthcare cover with AXA

  • Personal travel insurance - just in case

  • Income protection insurance (for full peace of mind in case you cannot work because of sickness or disability)

  • 20 weeks fully paid parental leave & 8 weeks for non-birthing parent
