Baltimore Consulting are supporting a Local Authority in London who are looking to recruit an interim Deputy Head of Nursery. This is a critical, hands-on interim opportunity for an experienced early years leader who thrives in complex environments. As the Deputy Head of Nursery, you will step into a visible, on‑site leadership role where your presence, judgement and people skills will directly stabilise and strengthen day‑to‑day nursery operations. Reporting into senior leadership, you will be a trusted figure for staff, setting clear standards and restoring confidence across the setting during a high‑risk period.
Your Role as the interim Deputy Head of Nursery:
- Operational leadershipof the nursery, ensuring safe, compliant and high‑quality daily delivery.
- Curriculum oversight, embedding strong EYFS practice and child development standards.
- Visible staff leadership, supporting, guiding and challenging teams on‑site.
- Safeguarding & health and safety, ensuring robust compliance and supervision processes.
- Stability and consistency, raising standards in a challenging or recovering environment.
Your previous experience as a Deputy Head of Nursery:
- Early Years leadership experienceas a Deputy Head, Nursery Manager or multi‑site lead.
- Strong knowledge of EYFS and Ofsted, with confidence applying standards in practice.
- Proven experience in difficult settings, including improvement or recovery environments.
- Hands‑on operational background, not purely strategic or advisory.
- Strong safeguarding mindset, with confidence addressing poor practice directly.
