English Teacher | Newham
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated English Teacher to join a good-rated secondary school in Newham. This role is ideal for a teacher committed to inspiring students in the study of English, including literature, language, and writing skills. The successful candidate will deliver engaging lessons, foster a love of reading and writing, and support students in achieving strong academic outcomes.
Role Overview:
As an English Teacher, you will be responsible for planning, delivering, and assessing lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4. You will work within a collaborative English department to develop curriculum resources, implement effective teaching strategies, and monitor student progress. Your role will contribute to the overall academic and personal development of students, helping them to achieve their potential.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan and deliver high-quality English lessons, covering literature, language, and writing.
Assess, monitor, and track student progress, providing timely feedback and support.
Develop engaging teaching resources, schemes of work, and lesson plans.
Maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation.
Support extra-curricular English activities, such as reading clubs, writing competitions, and school events.
Contribute to reporting, assessments, and preparation for examinations.
Collaborate with colleagues to share best practice and support the school’s teaching initiatives.
Ensure compliance with safeguarding, health and safety, and behaviour policies.
Skills and Experience:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a degree in English or a related subject.
Strong subject knowledge and understanding of the English curriculum.
Excellent communication, organisational, and classroom management skills.
Ability to motivate, inspire, and challenge students of varying abilities.
Experience in assessment, curriculum planning, and tracking student progress.
Commitment to professional development and continuous improvement.
