We are seeking an inspirational and commercially astute Head of Business Studies to lead a dynamic department at a high-achieving secondary school in the vibrant Hammersmith area of West London. This is a pivotal leadership position for an experienced educator committed to driving academic excellence and real-world relevance across Business and related subjects.
The Vitals: What You'll Be Leading
As Head of Department, you will be responsible for the strategic direction, management, and continuous improvement of Business Studies education from Key Stage 4 through to A-Level, ensuring students are prepared for both examination success and future careers.
Key Leadership Responsibilities:
- Strategic Vision: Develop and implement an ambitious, up-to-date vision for the Business Studies curriculum, potentially incorporating elements of Economics, Marketing, and Entrepreneurship.
- Team Management: Lead, mentor, and performance-manage the Business Studies faculty, fostering a collaborative and high-expectations culture focused on pedagogical excellence.
- Curriculum & Attainment: Oversee the planning, delivery, and assessment of all Business qualifications (GCSE, A-Level, and potentially vocational routes), analyzing data to ensure outstanding student progress and outcomes.
- Commercial Links: Forge and maintain external links with local businesses and higher education institutions to enrich the curriculum and provide students with valuable real-world context and career guidance.
- Resource Management: Manage the departmental budget efficiently, ensuring all resources and technology effectively support modern business education.
Candidate Profile: What We're Looking For
The ideal candidate will be an experienced teacher and proven leader with a strong passion for the commercial world and a track record of raising standards in a Business department.
Essential Requirements:
- Qualification: A degree in Business Studies, Commerce, Management, or a related field .
- Certification: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or a PGCE.
- Leadership Experience: Proven, successful experience as a Head of Department, Second in Department, or key curriculum leader within Business Studies at the secondary level.
- Curriculum Expertise: Deep knowledge of the curriculum and examination specifications for Business Studies at GCSE and A-Level .
- Skills: Exceptional leadership, strategic thinking, data analysis, and communication skills.
