A friendly school in Merton seeks an engaging EYFS Teacher to lead Reception practice from January 2026. The EYFS Teacher will design rich indoor and outdoor environments, plan observation-led learning journeys and ensure children make secure progress against the Early Learning Goals. The Merton setting offers excellent EYFS resources, a supportive leadership team and strong links with local families — the EYFS Teacher will be central to delivering high-quality early provision.

EYFS Teacher required for a full-time position
EYFS Teacher required to work within an established Early Years setting in Merton
• EYFS Teacher to lead play-based learning and assessment in a nurturing school

The EYFS Teacher will collaborate with the SENDCo and phase colleagues to tailor learning to individual needs, support transitions and embed consistent pedagogy. Pre-start induction sessions will run prior to January 2026, so the EYFS Teacher can contribute to curriculum planning and meet families ahead of the spring term. Merton parents value the school’s reflective approach and the EYFS Teacher will play a key role in partnership working.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver a play-based EYFS curriculum that promotes language, curiosity and independence.
  • Observe and assess children routinely and use evidence to shape next steps and group provision.
  • Coordinate transition arrangements into Year 1 and maintain open communication with families.
  • Lead collaborative planning with colleagues and support continuous improvement in the EYFS.
  • Ensure safeguarding and wellbeing are central to daily practice.

Person specification

  • Qualified teacher with significant Reception/EYFS experience and strong assessment skills.
  • Confident in designing continuous provision and creating stimulating learning environments.
  • Empathetic, organised and effective at engaging with parents and colleagues in Merton.
  • Committed to starting January 2026 and contributing to the Merton school community.
