Job Title: KDB+/Q Software Engineer

Client: Elite High Frequency Trading Firm

Salary: £70,000 - £225,000 Base (+ Bonus)

Location: London (Hybrid)

Experience Level: Junior, Mid and Senior Level Positions.

My client is looking for a KDB+/Q Software Engineer to join their rapidly expanding development team, leveraging KDB+/Q to streamline and automate critical processes. Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain high-performance tick data storage systems using kdb+/q to efficiently store and retrieve large volumes of market data (e.g., trades, quotes, order books).
  • Optimize schema design and partitioning strategies to support low-latency queries across historical and real-time data.
  • Implement real-time data ingestion and processing pipelines for market data
  • Ensure data integrity, latency minimization, and fault tolerance in streaming environments using q and kdb+ capabilities.
  • Collaborate with quantitative researchers to develop research tools, backtesting frameworks, and analytics in q.
  • Provide fast-access APIs and utilities to extract and manipulate data for strategy testing and signal generation.

Key Requirements:

  • Degree in Computer Science or STEM based subjects.
  • Strong programming skills as a KDB+/Q Software Engineer.
  • 1+ years of experience in a relevant role such as Software Engineer or Quant Developer
  • Proficiency in modern software development practices, including version control and agile development methodologies.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, enabling effective collaboration and information sharing.
  • Demonstrated enthusiasm for ongoing learning and a proactive attitude towards adopting new technologies.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, adaptable, and high-pressure environment, delivering results efficiently.
