Year 5 Teacher - Croydon
A progressive primary school in Croydon is seeking a dedicated Year 5 Teacher to join the team from January 2026. The Year 5 Teacher will plan ambitious sequences that deepen conceptual understanding, develop reasoning skills and prepare pupils for the challenges of upper KS2. The appointed Year 5 Teacher will participate in assessment cycles, lead booster groups and contribute to enrichment projects. Induction and planning sessions will be arranged prior to January 2026 so the Year 5 Teacher is ready to make an immediate impact.

This Year 5 Teacher will work with subject leads to refine medium-term plans, use data to set precise targets and communicate progress with families. Responsibilities
- Plan challenging Year 5 lessons that promote fluency, reasoning and creativity.
- Analyse assessment data to set targets and design timely interventions.
- Lead small-group teaching to close gaps and extend higher-attaining pupils.
- Work with colleagues to ensure consistency of expectations across the phase.
- Maintain clear communication with parents and contribute to reporting cycles.
Person specification
- Qualified teacher with a strong track record in KS2 and proven Year 5 classroom impact.
- Excellent curriculum knowledge, classroom management and organisational skills.
- Collaborative and reflective, with a commitment to professional development in Croydon.
- Able to start January 2026 and to be based in Croydon.
