Year 6 Teacher - Orpington
Lead Pupils Through Their Final Year of Primary Education
We are seeking an experienced, confident, and dedicated Year 6 Teacher to join a supportive primary school in Orpington, starting as soon as possible. This role offers the opportunity to teach pupils during a pivotal year of their education, supporting both academic achievement and personal development as they prepare for the transition to secondary school.
As a Year 6 Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching across the curriculum, with a particular focus on preparing pupils for end-of-key-stage assessments. The school values a balanced approach that combines strong academic outcomes with pupil wellbeing, confidence, and resilience.
You will join a collaborative Upper Key Stage 2 team where planning, assessment, and best practice are shared. Leadership is supportive and experienced, providing clear guidance and opportunities for professional development.
Your Role
In this role, you will plan and deliver structured, engaging lessons that challenge pupils while supporting a wide range of learning needs. You will help pupils develop effective study habits, resilience, and independence, ensuring they are well prepared for the next stage of their education.
You will work closely with teaching assistants and senior leaders to provide targeted interventions and ensure all pupils make strong progress.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and deliver high-quality lessons aligned with the Year 6 curriculum
Prepare pupils for end-of-key-stage assessments while maintaining pupil wellbeing
Use assessment data to monitor progress and target support
Differentiate learning to meet the needs of all pupils
Create a focused, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment
Promote positive behaviour, resilience, and independence
Work collaboratively with colleagues across Upper KS2
Communicate effectively with parents and carers
Contribute to school improvement initiatives and CPD
Who We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate will be:
A qualified teacher with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Experienced teaching in Upper Key Stage 2, ideally Year 6
Confident with assessment, data, and curriculum planning
Calm, organised, and resilient
Strong in behaviour management and pupil motivation
Committed to inclusive practice and safeguarding
Willing to contribute positively to the wider school community
Both experienced teachers and confident ECTs with strong support are welcome to apply.
