Lead Pupils Through Their Final Year of Primary Education

We are seeking an experienced, confident, and dedicated Year 6 Teacher to join a supportive primary school in Orpington, starting as soon as possible. This role offers the opportunity to teach pupils during a pivotal year of their education, supporting both academic achievement and personal development as they prepare for the transition to secondary school.

As a Year 6 Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching across the curriculum, with a particular focus on preparing pupils for end-of-key-stage assessments. The school values a balanced approach that combines strong academic outcomes with pupil wellbeing, confidence, and resilience.

You will join a collaborative Upper Key Stage 2 team where planning, assessment, and best practice are shared. Leadership is supportive and experienced, providing clear guidance and opportunities for professional development.

Your Role

In this role, you will plan and deliver structured, engaging lessons that challenge pupils while supporting a wide range of learning needs. You will help pupils develop effective study habits, resilience, and independence, ensuring they are well prepared for the next stage of their education.

You will work closely with teaching assistants and senior leaders to provide targeted interventions and ensure all pupils make strong progress.

  • Plan and deliver high-quality lessons aligned with the Year 6 curriculum

  • Prepare pupils for end-of-key-stage assessments while maintaining pupil wellbeing

  • Use assessment data to monitor progress and target support

  • Differentiate learning to meet the needs of all pupils

  • Create a focused, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment

  • Promote positive behaviour, resilience, and independence

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across Upper KS2

  • Communicate effectively with parents and carers

  • Contribute to school improvement initiatives and CPD

Who We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate will be:

  • A qualified teacher with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

  • Experienced teaching in Upper Key Stage 2, ideally Year 6

  • Confident with assessment, data, and curriculum planning

  • Calm, organised, and resilient

  • Strong in behaviour management and pupil motivation

  • Committed to inclusive practice and safeguarding

  • Willing to contribute positively to the wider school community

Both experienced teachers and confident ECTs with strong support are welcome to apply.

What the School Offers

  • Supportive leadership with clear expectations

  • Collaborative Upper KS2 team

  • Well-resourced classrooms and structured planning systems

  • Professional development and CPD opportunities

  • Engaged, hardworking pupils

  • A positive school culture that values staff wellbeing
