We are seeking an ambitious and talented Head of Music to lead a vibrant and well-resourced Expressive Arts faculty at a highly-regarded secondary school in Hillingdon . This is a full-time, permanent leadership position for an experienced teacher or an aspiring middle leader who is passionate about delivering an elite musical education to all students.

Role: Head of Music (Departmental Lead)
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Location: Hillingdon, West London (Excellent links via Elizabeth Line/Piccadilly Line and free on-site parking)
Curriculum: Oversight of KS3, GCSE, and A-Level/BTEC Music pathways.
Salary: Outer London MPS/UPS + Significant TLR (Teaching & Learning Responsibility) payment .
The Opportunity
As Head of Music, you will have the autonomy to design and implement a curriculum that celebrates both classical excellence and contemporary innovation. You will lead a dedicated team of staff and peripatetic tutors, ensuring that Music remains a high-profile subject within the school and the wider community.
You will oversee state-of-the-art facilities , including Mac suites with industry-standard software, recording studios, and professional performance spaces. Your role will be to drive academic standards in the classroom while coordinating a flagship extracurricular program, ranging from traditional orchestras and choirs to contemporary ensembles and music technology clubs.

We Are Looking For:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential.
A proven track record of outstanding teaching and high results at GCSE and A-Level .
Leadership Potential: Experience in curriculum design, staff mentoring, or coordinating large-scale events.
A visionary approach to Music education that balances performance, composition, and appraisal.
Excellent organizational skills to manage peripatetic schedules and departmental budgets.
A commitment to inclusive music-making that engages students of all backgrounds and abilities.
