A forward-thinking primary academy in Acton is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate SENCo and Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) to join their leadership team from January 2026 .

This is a pivotal role for an experienced practitioner who is passionate about inclusive education, pupil wellbeing, and safeguarding excellence . The successful candidate will lead the school’s provision for pupils with special educational needs and disabilities while ensuring that safeguarding remains a central priority across the school community.

Location: Acton, West London
Start Date: January 2026
Contract Type: Permanent (or Long-Term Fixed Term)
Working Pattern: Full-Time
Salary: MPS/UPS + SEN Allowance (Dependent on Experience)

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage SEND provision across the school, ensuring high-quality teaching and interventions for all learners.
  • Oversee the safeguarding strategy as the school’s Designated Safeguarding Lead , maintaining robust policies and procedures.
  • Work closely with teachers, support staff, and external agencies to ensure pupils’ academic and emotional needs are fully met.
  • Coordinate EHCP processes, assessments, and reviews in collaboration with families and the local authority.
  • Deliver staff training and support around SEND and safeguarding best practice.
  • Monitor pupil progress and maintain accurate, confidential records in line with statutory guidance.

What We’re Looking For

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with the National Award for SEN Coordination (or willingness to complete it).
  • Proven experience as a SENCo , DSL , or in a similar leadership capacity.
  • In-depth knowledge of SEND Code of Practice and current safeguarding legislation .
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and lead by example.
  • A proactive, reflective, and child-centred approach.
