A Key Stage 2 Teaching Role in a Supportive School Community

We are seeking an enthusiastic, dedicated, and motivated Year 4 Teacher to join a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Clapham, starting as soon as possible. This is an excellent opportunity to teach in Lower Key Stage 2, working with pupils as they develop confidence, independence, and deeper understanding across the curriculum.

The successful candidate will take full responsibility for a Year 4 class, delivering engaging and well-structured lessons that challenge and support pupils of all abilities. The school places a strong emphasis on high standards, positive relationships, and pupil wellbeing, and is looking for a teacher who can inspire pupils while maintaining a calm and inclusive classroom environment.

You will be joining a collaborative Key Stage 2 team where shared planning, professional dialogue, and mutual support are part of everyday practice. Leadership is approachable and committed to staff development, ensuring that teachers are supported to grow professionally and deliver high-quality teaching.

The Role

As the Year 4 Teacher, you will plan and deliver lessons across the curriculum, ensuring pupils continue to build on their prior learning while developing independence and resilience. You will use assessment effectively to track progress, identify gaps, and adapt teaching to meet individual needs.

You will work closely with teaching assistants and colleagues to provide targeted support where required and to ensure consistency in teaching and learning. Supporting pupils’ social and emotional development is a key part of the role, helping children develop confidence, responsibility, and positive learning behaviours.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, deliver, and assess high-quality lessons across the Year 4 curriculum

  • Use assessment data to inform planning and differentiation

  • Support pupils with a range of learning needs, including SEND and EAL

  • Create a safe, structured, and inclusive classroom environment

  • Promote positive behaviour and high expectations for learning

  • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants and KS2 colleagues

  • Communicate effectively with parents and carers regarding progress and development

  • Participate in staff meetings, CPD, and whole-school initiatives

The Ideal Candidate

The successful applicant will:

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

  • Have experience teaching Key Stage 2, ideally Year 4

  • Demonstrate strong subject knowledge across the curriculum

  • Be confident in classroom management and differentiation

  • Be organised, reflective, and proactive

  • Be committed to inclusive practice and safeguarding

  • Have a positive, professional approach to teamwork

Early Career Teachers are welcome to apply and will be supported with mentoring and guidance.

Why Join This School?

  • Supportive leadership and a collaborative staff team

  • Well-resourced classrooms and shared planning systems

  • Opportunities for professional development and career progression

  • Engaged and motivated pupils

  • A strong focus on staff wellbeing and work-life balance

  • A welcoming and inclusive school community

Location

The school is based in Clapham, with excellent transport links and access to local amenities. The area offers a vibrant community and a positive working environment.

How to Apply

To apply, please forward an up-to-date copy of your CV, clearly outlining your qualifications, experience, and suitability for the role.

Start Date: ASAP

This post is subject to an enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references. The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
