A Key Stage 2 Teaching Role in a Supportive School Community
We are seeking an enthusiastic, dedicated, and motivated Year 4 Teacher to join a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Clapham, starting as soon as possible. This is an excellent opportunity to teach in Lower Key Stage 2, working with pupils as they develop confidence, independence, and deeper understanding across the curriculum.
The successful candidate will take full responsibility for a Year 4 class, delivering engaging and well-structured lessons that challenge and support pupils of all abilities. The school places a strong emphasis on high standards, positive relationships, and pupil wellbeing, and is looking for a teacher who can inspire pupils while maintaining a calm and inclusive classroom environment.
You will be joining a collaborative Key Stage 2 team where shared planning, professional dialogue, and mutual support are part of everyday practice. Leadership is approachable and committed to staff development, ensuring that teachers are supported to grow professionally and deliver high-quality teaching.
The Role
As the Year 4 Teacher, you will plan and deliver lessons across the curriculum, ensuring pupils continue to build on their prior learning while developing independence and resilience. You will use assessment effectively to track progress, identify gaps, and adapt teaching to meet individual needs.
You will work closely with teaching assistants and colleagues to provide targeted support where required and to ensure consistency in teaching and learning. Supporting pupils’ social and emotional development is a key part of the role, helping children develop confidence, responsibility, and positive learning behaviours.
Key Responsibilities
Plan, deliver, and assess high-quality lessons across the Year 4 curriculum
Use assessment data to inform planning and differentiation
Support pupils with a range of learning needs, including SEND and EAL
Create a safe, structured, and inclusive classroom environment
Promote positive behaviour and high expectations for learning
Work collaboratively with teaching assistants and KS2 colleagues
Communicate effectively with parents and carers regarding progress and development
Participate in staff meetings, CPD, and whole-school initiatives
The Ideal Candidate
The successful applicant will:
Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Have experience teaching Key Stage 2, ideally Year 4
Demonstrate strong subject knowledge across the curriculum
Be confident in classroom management and differentiation
Be organised, reflective, and proactive
Be committed to inclusive practice and safeguarding
Have a positive, professional approach to teamwork
