Senior Manager Financial Crime, CIB Digital Assets and Currencies

We are seeking an experienced Senior Manager in Financial Crime (FC), CIB Digital Assets & Currencies. You would be responsible for providing financial crime risk stewardship across customers, products and geographies related to Digital Assets and Currencies.
The Financial Crime (FC) Function acts as the Second Line of Defense (LOD), comprising 'Risk Stewards' independent of the Group's commercial risk-taking activities (First LOD or FLOD). The FC Function implements critical controls using intelligence, analytics, technology, detection, and investigation. Risk Stewards review and challenge FLOD activities to ensure effective management of FC risks, including fraud, money laundering, bribery, sanctions violations, terrorist financing, proliferation financing, export control violations, and tax evasion. The FC Function adheres to HSBC Group's Risk Management Framework (RMF).
As a Risk Steward you are responsible for reviewing and challenging all the activities of the first line of defence (FLOD) to ensure that, as 'Risk Owners', they effectively manage the FC risk inherent in, or arising from, the conduct of their activities and for which they are responsible.
In this role, you will:
- Provide advice and guidance regarding business activities involving Digital Assets and Currencies.
- Be a subject matter expert to support setting policy, providing guidance and advising the businesses and functions on financial crime risk involving Digital Assets and Currencies. You will also support the articulation of Digital Assets and Currencies financial crime risk appetite and policies with respect to the above financial crime risks.
- Maintain an effective control framework and compliance with all relevant external laws & regulations, internal codes and policies and good market practices.
- Represent the financial crime risk agenda through relevant governance forums, including the Corporate and Institutional Banking Financial Crime ExCo, and as an attendee at the relevant forums (where required) to report on progress and issues in relation to the operational effectiveness of HSBC’s policies, processes, systems and controls in countering financial crime.
- Support the implementation of policy, issue management, fostering a compliance culture and optimizing relations with risk owners and control owners.
To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:
- A Comprehensive understanding of regulatory frameworks and compliance requirements in financial services, with a background in Financial Crime risk management advisory.
- Extensive knowledge of financial crime risk frameworks and execution, with expertise in Digital Assets & Currencies.
- Proven experience in a relevant role, i.e. within the financial services industry covering AML, Sanctions, ABC, Fraud, Tax Evasion, Transaction Monitoring, Client/Payment Screening is essential
- Strong leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and develop high preforming terms.
- Ability to build relationships by communicating and influencing effectively across different levels of seniority.
The base location for this role is London with a hybrid working pattern.
