Reception Teaching Role in a Community Primary School

A welcoming Community Primary School in Hammersmith is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and nurturing Reception Teacher to join its successful Early Years team from September. This is a full-time role within a supportive and inclusive school that places children’s wellbeing, development, and achievement at the heart of everything it does.

About the Role

You will take responsibility for a Reception class, delivering a creative and engaging EYFS curriculum that supports children’s academic, social, emotional, and physical development.

Working within a play-based and child-centred framework, you will create exciting learning opportunities that foster communication, language development, early literacy, numeracy, and personal growth.

You will play a key role in helping children settle into school life, establish positive learning habits, and build the foundations for future success throughout their primary education.

The successful candidate will work closely with teaching assistants, colleagues, and parents to ensure every child receives the support and challenge they need to thrive.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach a Reception class within the EYFS framework

  • Plan and deliver engaging, child-centred learning experiences

  • Support children's development across all areas of learning

  • Promote early reading, writing, communication, and mathematical skills

  • Monitor progress through observation and assessment

  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to reporting procedures

  • Create a safe, stimulating, and inclusive learning environment

  • Build positive relationships with pupils, parents, and colleagues

Candidate Requirements

Essential Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

  • Experience teaching within EYFS

  • Strong understanding of the EYFS Framework and child development

  • Excellent classroom management and communication skills

  • Commitment to providing high-quality early years education

Desirable

  • Experience teaching Reception

  • Experience working within a Community Primary School

  • Strong phonics knowledge and early reading expertise

  • Ability to contribute to wider school initiatives and enrichment opportunities
