About the role
The Head of Community will lead the development and execution of Electrify’s direct-to-audience strategy across memberships, subscription communities, newsletters and owned audience ecosystems.
This role will take primary responsibility for designing, launching and scaling recurring revenue and engagement products across Electrify’s creator portfolio, helping transform passive audiences into active, high-value communities.
A key focus of the role will be serving the “super fans” of our creator brands including fern and Veritasium. The successful candidate will help identify the most engaged audience segments and build free and premium experiences, products, communities and communication systems designed specifically for them. This includes creating ecosystems that deepen loyalty, strengthen creator-to-audience relationships, increase participation and generate meaningful recurring revenue.
The Head of Community will work closely with creators, channel leadership, production teams, partnerships, data and leadership to build world-class membership businesses and audience ecosystems.
Key Responsibilities
Membership Strategy & Product Development
Design membership propositions across Electrify’s portfolio, with initial focus on fern and then Veritasium.
Work directly with creators and production teams to define value proposition and what content, access, and experiences sit within each tier
Build business case and long range P&L
Lead the end-to-end launch of products from concept through to execution and ongoing operation
Develop launch plans, marketing funnels and conversion strategies to drive subscriber growth
Establish community standards and operational best practices
Build systems for collecting audience feedback and insights
Newsletter & Owned Audience Strategy
Lead Electrify’s newsletter strategy across the creator portfolio, outside of the native newsletter brands. This includes VeMail and Astrum and the launch of new newsletters.
Work with creators and editorial teams to define newsletter positioning and voice
Develop acquisition, conversion and retention strategies for newsletter audiences
Oversee segmentation, lifecycle communication and CRM strategy
Build monetisation strategies across sponsorships, paid newsletters, affiliate opportunities and premium editorial products
Explore paid marketing strategies to scale audiences.
Revenue Ownership & Commercial Accountability
Own the P&L performance of Electrify’s membership, newsletter and audience community products across the portfolio
Be accountable for the commercial success, growth, profitability and long-term sustainability of recurring revenue products
Build and manage revenue forecasts, budgets and financial performance reporting
Monitor and optimise key commercial metrics including subscriber growth, churn, ARPU, LTV, CAC, retention and margin performance
Skills and experience
Deep experience building or operating membership, subscription or community businesses
Strong understanding of audience retention, engagement and lifecycle strategy
Experience scaling newsletters and owned audience channels
Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
Experience leading cross-functional initiatives
Comfortable working directly with creators and senior leadership
Ability to operate effectively in fast-moving, entrepreneurial environments
High attention to detail with strong execution capability
Desirable
Experience with platforms such as Beehiiv, ConvertKit, Substack, or similar
Understanding of newsletter monetisation and audience acquisition economics
Experience working with creator-led brands
