Practice Manager
About the department
Welbeck Practice Management (WPM) is dedicated to delivering seamless, patient-focused healthcare services across our consultants’ practices. Our team ensures that operations run efficiently, patients experience smooth care pathways, and clinicians are supported to provide the highest standard of care.
We combine operational expertise with innovation, embracing digital solutions and continuous improvement to enhance efficiency, service quality, and patient satisfaction. Working within WPM means being part of a collaborative, professional, and dynamic environment where your contribution directly impacts patient experiences and the success of the practice.
About the role
The Practice Manager plays a critical role in the smooth running of our consultants’ practices, providing high-level operational, administrative, and managerial support. The role balances hands-on practice management with strategic oversight, ensuring patient care, operational efficiency, and commercial sustainability.
You will coordinate consultant diaries, manage patient pathways, and act as a trusted point of contact for patients, hospitals, insurers, and other healthcare providers. By driving continuous improvement, supporting digital adoption, and fostering strong professional relationships, you will help ensure that our practices deliver exceptional, patient-centred care.
Please note, this role is three days on site rotating per week.
Key Responsibilities
• Manage and coordinate consultant diaries, appointments, and procedures to ensure efficiency and patient clarity.
• Oversee patient records, correspondence, and reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance with confidentiality and data protection requirements.
• Liaise with hospitals, insurers, and healthcare providers to facilitate smooth and timely patient journeys.
• Anticipate and resolve operational or scheduling issues, keeping patients and consultants informed.
• Ensure effective use of practice management systems and support digital adoption within the team.
• Support consultants in delivering a patient-centred, efficient, and commercially sustainable service.
• Act as the primary contact for patients, consultants, hospitals, insurers, and third parties.
• Build and maintain strong professional relationships with all stakeholders to ensure seamless practice operations.
• Demonstrate discretion and professionalism when handling sensitive or confidential information.
• Identify, recommend, and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, patient satisfaction, and team performance.
• Contribute to a culture of innovation, adaptability, and resilience within the team.
• Support colleagues through mentoring and training, ensuring capability development across the service.
• Uphold consistent practice management standards, aligned with business objectives and patient centred values.
About you
You are a proactive, organised, and adaptable professional with a passion for delivering exceptional patient-focused service. You thrive in a fast-paced environment, balancing operational oversight with hands-on practice management, and are confident taking ownership of day-to-day practice operations.
You have excellent communication and relationship-building skills, able to engage effectively with patients, consultants, hospitals, insurers, and colleagues. With strong commercial awareness, you can identify opportunities for efficiency and service improvement, and you are comfortable using digital tools to enhance workflows and patient experience.
You are motivated by continuous improvement, enjoy mentoring and supporting colleagues, and are committed to maintaining the highest standards of confidentiality, professionalism, and patient care.
