Locum Democratic Services Manager – London

Vivid Resourcing are currently working with a London Borough Council who are looking for an experienced Democratic Services Manager to join them on a locum basis for around 12 months.

Role details:

• Position: Democratic Services Manager

• Location: London (hybrid working – some on-site attendance required)

• Contract: Initial 12 months with room to extend

• Rate: Competitive (inside IR35)

• Start: ASAP

Responsibilities include:

• Managing the council’s Democratic Services team and ensuring effective delivery of all committee functions.

• Providing expert advice to Members, senior officers and the Chief Executive on constitutional, procedural and governance issues.

• Overseeing agendas, reports and minutes to ensure compliance with statutory requirements.

• Attending and advising at key council and committee meetings.

• Supporting and developing staff within the team.

Candidate requirements:

• Previous experience managing/leading a Democratic Services or Committee Services function in local government.

• Strong knowledge of local authority governance and decision-making procedures.

• Confident advising Members and senior officers in politically sensitive environments.

• Excellent organisational and communication skills.
