An excellent opportunity has arisen with one of our prestigious Lloyd’s Syndicate clients, who are seeking an experienced Excess Casualty Underwriter to join their London-based team. This role is a fantastic chance to contribute to a high-performing portfolio, with a focus on US Excess Casualty business , in a dynamic and collaborative underwriting environment.

As a recruiter working closely with this market-leading Syndicate, I’m looking to speak with driven individuals who are confident working with complex risks and are excited to be part of a forward-thinking organisation with strong market presence.

Key Responsibilities:

• Underwrite, quote and bind US Excess Casualty risks in line with delegated authority and company strategy

• Execute underwriting decisions that contribute to the delivery of portfolio and business plan objectives

• Monitor portfolio performance and support data-led improvements in underwriting discipline

• Maintain and grow broker relationships, identifying and securing new business opportunities

• Continuously review and refine rating tools and pricing models

• Support the development of more junior underwriting staff

• Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and internal controls

Person Specification:

• Demonstrable experience in US Excess Casualty underwriting (Lloyd’s market experience desirable)

• Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess complex risks

• Excellent negotiation and communication skills—comfortable engaging with both brokers and internal stakeholders

• Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel

• Highly organised with the ability to prioritise, meet deadlines and manage time effectively

• Motivated, collaborative, and open to innovation

• Committed to professional development and long-term career growth
