We are seeking an enthusiastic, supportive, and reliable Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Stratford, starting as soon as possible. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting pupils’ learning and development across the primary age range.

The school has a positive and inclusive ethos, with high expectations for both pupils and staff. Teamwork and collaboration are central to the school’s culture, and teaching assistants play a vital role in supporting classroom learning and pupil wellbeing. The leadership team is supportive and committed to staff development.

As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher to support pupils during lessons, help manage classroom routines, and provide targeted support to individuals or small groups. You may work across different year groups, supporting pupils with a range of learning needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support pupils’ learning within the classroom under teacher direction

  • Work with individuals or small groups to reinforce learning

  • Assist with lesson preparation and classroom organisation

  • Support pupils with literacy, numeracy, and wider curriculum activities

  • Help promote positive behaviour and engagement in learning

  • Support pupils with social development and confidence

  • Assist with playground duties, transitions, and school activities

  • Provide feedback to teachers on pupil progress and engagement

  • Follow school policies on safeguarding, behaviour, and inclusion

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will:

  • Have experience working with children in a school or similar setting

  • Be enthusiastic, patient, and approachable

  • Have a strong interest in supporting children’s learning and development

  • Be able to work effectively as part of a team

  • Have good communication and interpersonal skills

  • Be adaptable and proactive in supporting classroom needs

  • Be committed to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing

Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or working with children in an educational setting is desirable, but the school also welcomes candidates with transferable experience and a strong willingness to learn.

The school is located in Stratford, with excellent transport links and a diverse, vibrant school community. Staff benefit from a supportive working environment and opportunities to develop their skills and experience within education.

How to Apply

To apply, please submit an up-to-date CV outlining your experience and interest in the role.

Start Date: ASAP
This post is subject to an enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references. The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
