Learning Support Assistant - Rainham
We are seeking a caring, motivated, and reliable Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join a friendly and inclusive primary school in Rainham, starting as soon as possible. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting pupils who require additional help to access learning and reach their full potential.
The school has a strong focus on inclusion and pupil wellbeing. Staff work closely together to provide tailored support for pupils with a range of learning needs, including SEN and those requiring additional academic or emotional support. The leadership team is supportive and committed to providing guidance and professional development for support staff.
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work across the classroom supporting pupils individually or in small groups. You may work with pupils who have autism (ASD), ADHD, speech and language needs, or social, emotional, and mental health needs (SEMH), helping them to engage positively with learning and school life.
Key Responsibilities
Support pupils’ learning within the classroom
Provide targeted support to individuals and small groups
Assist pupils with literacy, numeracy, and curriculum activities
Support pupils with emotional regulation and positive behaviour
Help implement strategies from EHCPs and support plans
Work closely with teachers and the SENCO
Encourage independence and confidence in learning
Support pupils during transitions, playtimes, and activities
Observe and record progress, sharing feedback with staff
Follow safeguarding, behaviour, and inclusion policies at all times
The Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will:
Have experience supporting children in a school or similar setting
Be patient, nurturing, and resilient
Have a strong interest in SEN and inclusive education
Be confident supporting pupils with additional needs
Have good communication and teamwork skills
Be proactive, reliable, and adaptable
Be committed to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing
Experience supporting pupils with ASD, ADHD, SEMH, or learning difficulties is highly desirable, but the school welcomes candidates with transferable skills and a genuine desire to support children.
The school is based in Rainham, with good transport links and a welcoming community. Staff benefit from a supportive working environment, clear expectations, and opportunities to grow within education.
How to Apply
To apply, please submit an up-to-date CV outlining your experience and interest in the role.
Start Date: ASAP
This post is subject to an enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references. The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
