Parking Dept and Complaints Officer
We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Southwark to assist with the appointment of a Parking Dept and Complaints Officer , on a 3-month contract , highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.
Rate of Pay : £18.94 - £24.96 per hour
Summary:
The Parking Debt and Complaints Officer plays a vital role in delivering a timely and effective service for the Parking and Network Management team and the wider council. The postholder will investigate and resolve complaints, Members enquiries, and appeals against Penalty Charge Notices (PCNs) at warrant stage, liaising with enforcement agents, courts, and the Traffic Enforcement Centre (TEC). They will also reconcile and monitor parking income, assess enforcement agent performance, and ensure compliance with legislation including Civil Procedure Rules (CPR 75).
Responsibilities:
- Investigate and respond to parking debt correspondence, service complaints, Members enquiries, and late-stage PCN appeals.
- Prepare and submit Statements of Truth (SOT), N244 applications, and case evidence for TEC and county courts.
- Attend external adjudication hearings and provide evidence as required.
- Liaise with enforcement agents, monitoring performance and resolving concerns at the warrant stage.
- Manage and prioritise casework to meet statutory timescales, KPIs, and customer service standards.
Qualification s & Knowledge :
- GCSEs (or equivalent) including Maths and English, or proven experience in parking enforcement and appeals.
- Strong knowledge of civil parking and traffic enforcement legislation, adjudication processes, and CPR 75.
- Understanding of back-office processes for enforcement of parking and traffic penalties.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in customer service or administration, including handling formal correspondence.
- Experience in PCN enforcement environments, working with contractors and council officers.
- Experience using computer systems and databases to analyse case data and inform decisions.
- Background in preparing written reports, case responses, and presenting at hearings.
