Company Description

We’re Checkout.com . You might not know our name, but companies like eBay, Spotify, Klarna, Uber, and Sony do, because we’re behind many of the digital experiences you use every day.

We are where the world checks out, enabling over 10 billion transactions yearly for more than one billion global shoppers.

Whether you want to book a holiday, order food, renew a subscription, or check out online, there’s a good chance our tech powers the payments behind the scenes. Our platform helps the most ambitious businesses deliver effortless digital experiences, at scale.

If you want to do career-defining work, you’ve come to the right place. We move fast, think globally, and believe great teams are built by hiring exceptional people with conviction, curiosity, and the desire to make an impact.

With 20 offices across six continents and London as our HQ, we’re shaping the future of fintech – and we’re just getting started.

Role overview | Context

We're building the future of payments, and to do that, we need to operate at the highest possible standards. We are currently scaling a new, high-impact operations team, strategically positioned at the centre of the organisation, to supercharge our product delivery and drive execution excellence across the entire business. This is not a traditional operations role. This is an opportunity to work at the heart of the Product engine at Checkout as we continue to pursue multiple growth opportunities from our core Acquiring portfolio to broader solutions such as Issuing, Payouts, IDV, Risk and Financial Experiences.

This Operations and Strategy opportunity is a high-impact, hands-on role for exceptional problem-solvers. Each individual in the team will be specially selected for a new program, each embedded directly into tactical product teams. Their mission is to be a professional problem-solver who can take on the most complex operational and strategic challenges, find the root cause using data, and then design, build, and implement scalable, automated solutions.

This role demands executional excellence, process automation, and data-driven problem-solving. The successful candidate will combine granular, hands-on experience in executing processes with a high-level strategic view, redesigning and automating those processes to drive tangible value. This is a high-visibility position with direct exposure to the CEO and executive team, offering significant opportunities for career advancement into high-level roles and responsibilities within Product, Technology, and the wider organization at Checkout.

Role overview | Remit and Responsibilities

  • Act as a Professional Problem-Solver: The individual will take ownership of complex, ambiguous business problems and use a first-principles, data-driven methodology to find the root cause and build a solution.

  • Execute, Analyze, and Automate: The individual will begin by personally executing existing processes to understand their flaws. They will then redesign, optimize, and implement new, automated workflows to enhance speed, efficiency, and quality.

  • Own Data Collection & Analysis: The individual will identify the correct metrics, own the data collection process, and build the dashboards necessary to provide a clear, data-backed view of progress, bottlenecks, and performance to leadership.

  • Drive Cross-Functional Execution: The individual will lead and manage high-priority, cross-functional projects from end-to-end, such as deploying new systems or coordinating new processes across teams like People, Product, and Engineering.

  • Inform Strategy with Bottom-Up Insights: The individual will use their ground-level data and process insights to feed actionable information back to leadership, helping to inform strategic decisions with a clear view of our execution capabilities.

  • Manage Program Reporting Automation-First): The individual will handle project and program tracking with a primary focus on automating this reporting, not just administrating it.

Role overview | Desired Background, Core Competencies

  • Professional Experience: Multiple years of experience in influential, ideally cross-functional roles, in fast-paced, high-performance environments

  • Background: Formative experience in STEM studies, high-level Manufacturing, or Professional Services (e.g., Management Consulting, Investment Banking) is valued but not essential

  • Elite Problem-Solver: The individual must be a world-class, structured problem-solver. They navigate ambiguity with process and first-principles thinking, not just by pattern-matching. We will test this heavily.

  • Relentless Executor: The individual has a "get it done" mentality and a proven ability to execute and implement solutions themselves. We are looking for "doers" who can build the plan and then make it happen.

  • Data-Driven: The individual is highly comfortable with data. They know how to find it, analyze it, and use it to build a business case, justify their conclusions, and drive decisions.

  • Growth Mindset: This individual is ambitious, intellectually curious, and approaches work with a dedicated, results-driven attitude.

  • Collaborative: The individual is a natural team player who can collaborate effectively with diverse, cross-functional stakeholders and influence outcomes without formal authority.

  • Education: Whether though further education or early entrepreneurial or operational experience, the successful candidate will have set high standards from early on in their career
