Compass Group UK & Ireland is the UK’s leading food and support services provider, delivering outstanding service to clients across multiple sectors. Our Facilities Management division provides essential services that keep schools, hospitals, and workplaces safe, functional, and welcoming. We’re looking for a skilled and reliable Mobile Electrician to join our team, supporting the Richmond PFI Contract and other sites in London.
The Role
As a Mobile Electrician, you will deliver effective and efficient maintenance support to ensure that buildings and assets are safe, compliant, and fully operational. Your role will help provide a secure and clean environment for pupils, staff, and visitors, while maintaining the highest Health & Safety standards. Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive electrical repairs to agreed standards.
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety, company, and client procedures at all times.
- Undertake general maintenance tasks including basic plumbing, painting, and minor remedial works.
- Perform security duties such as lock/unlock procedures, alarm checks, and liaise with authorities when required.
- Monitor and replenish stock of essential items (e.g., bulbs, fittings).
- Provide porterage services when needed, such as moving furniture or setting up rooms.
- Maintain accurate records for inspections and testing (fire alarms, water hygiene, electrical systems).
- Support sub-contractors and visitors by carrying out site inductions and ensuring compliance with permits and safety systems.
- Respond to emergency call-outs as a keyholder when required.
We’re looking for someone with a proactive, hands-on approach who can work independently and as part of a team. Essential:
- 18th Edition Electrical Qualification
- City & Guilds Level 3 (2330) or equivalent
- Strong practical skills and proven experience in electrical maintenance
- Good general maintenance knowledge (DIY, plumbing, basic repairs)
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to prioritise tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Flexible, “can-do” attitude with high attention to detail
- Experience in a multi-site or facilities management role
- Electrical testing & inspection experience
- Previous experience leading or mentoring a small team
