Caretaker | Lewisham | January 2026
Are you a reliable and hands-on Caretaker seeking a stable role on a busy school site from January 2026? A welcoming primary school in Lewisham is recruiting a Caretaker to join their facilities team. This Caretaker vacancy starts January 2026, with induction and a full handover planned before January 2026 to ensure continuity.
The Lewisham Caretaker will be responsible for opening and securing the premises, conducting daily safety checks, carrying out routine maintenance, supporting contractors and maintaining the outdoor areas. You will help ensure that classrooms and communal spaces are safe and functional, support school events and manage consumables and site inventories.
Main duties
Open and secure the site each day and perform routine safety inspections.
Carry out minor repairs, maintenance tasks and report significant issues for specialist attention.
Maintain grounds, clear access routes and ensure safe entry for pupils and visitors.
Support lettings, events and emergency responses, coordinating with staff and contractors.
Maintain records of checks and complete health & safety documentation.
Person specification
Proven caretaking, premises or facilities experience with practical maintenance competence.
Able to work independently, manage multiple tasks and keep detailed H&S records.
Flexible, practical and ready to start January 2026, with attendance at induction before January 2026.
