Head of English – Lead Whole-School Literacy Strategy and Academic Rigour in an Inner-City School – Hackney
A dynamic and rigorous secondary school in Hackney requires an exceptional Head of English committed to driving whole-school literacy and academic rigour from January 2026.

The role involves providing strategic leadership for English across KS3–KS5 . You will oversee curriculum design, focusing on literacy development and rigorous literary and linguistic analysis. You will manage and mentor the team, ensuring consistently high results and promoting a love of reading.
Experience and Qualifications
- QTS and a degree in English (Post-graduate qualification desirable)
- Proven experience at Second in Department or existing Head of Faculty level
- Demonstrable track record of achieving top grades at A-Level English
- Capacity for inspiring leadership and effective staff line management
