Service Analyst
We’re looking for a Service Analyst (Grade 9) to join our Settlement and Insight team on a 12 month fixed-term contract . You’ll work alongside other analysts to support the operational delivery of our services, using data and insight to investigate issues, support customers and identify opportunities to continuously improve how our services operate.
What you’ll do:
Use data analysis and visualisation to investigate service issues, identify root causes and support effective resolution.
Monitor service performance, data and operational risks, identifying issues and escalating where appropriate.
Produce analysis, reports, recommendations and commentary for internal and external stakeholders, including panels and committees.
Coordinate the validation, accuracy and ongoing maintenance of key operational data.
Develop subject matter expertise across your area of responsibility, including the Balancing and Settlement Code and relevant supporting documents.
Respond to customer queries, translating complex information into clear, accessible answers.
Provide advice, guidance, support and training to customers and stakeholders.
Build strong relationships with colleagues, customers, vendors and wider industry stakeholders.
Keep customers informed of relevant industry and service developments.
Follow and maintain operational processes, procedures and obligations, ensuring services are delivered accurately and consistently.
Identify opportunities to improve processes, customer experience and service performance.
Support the implementation of service and technology changes.
Contribute to continuous service improvement initiatives.
Support IT Service Management processes, with training provided where required.
Take ownership of your workload and see activities through from investigation to successful resolution.
What you’ll bring:
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, investigate problems and identify appropriate solutions.
A basic understanding of SQL and/or other coding languages , alongside experience or an interest in data visualisation tools such as Power BI or equivalent.
Good Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
The ability to understand complex information and communicate it clearly in plain English to different audiences.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Good numerical accuracy and attention to detail.
The confidence to present information and findings to groups and stakeholders.
A proactive and self-motivated approach, with the ability to take ownership of tasks and deliver them through to completion.
The ability to manage a varied workload, prioritise effectively and adapt when priorities or deadlines change.
A collaborative approach and the ability to build positive relationships with customers and colleagues.
A customer-focused mindset and an interest in continuously improving services and processes.
A willingness to develop your knowledge of the Balancing and Settlement Code, Elexon and the wider GB electricity market.
It would also be useful, although not essential, if you have:
Knowledge or experience of the GB electricity market.
An understanding of BSC processes, including Settlement, Credit, payment or contingency arrangements.
Knowledge of BSC Parties, BSC Agents, code bodies or industry governance.
Previous experience within a customer service or service delivery environment.
