We champion a forward-thinking approach to education and take a digitally-enabled approach across all aspects of education. Over the last 6 years, the department has seen significant planned growth in support of King’s Vision 2029, with annual income of over £20m.

It brings together three existing areas: King’s Foundations, Summer Programmes, and King’s Language Centre. About the role
This is a newly created post within the Academic Skills team at KCL, intended to support international students in 4 faculties, as well as oversee Academic Skills provision for all students within at least 1 additional designated faculty. The role holder will join 3 existing Integrated Academic Skills Coordinators and a General Academic Skills Coordinator, as well as a team of tutors. They will work to build on the work already in place across the institution, with specific focus on international students.
The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying students’ needs, and designing, developing and delivering a framework of provision which works towards supporting students transitioning to UK HE and achieving their highest academic potential whilst studying at King’s.
The role holder will have a solid understanding of the needs of international students and a strong pedagogical background of delivering academic literacy, language, communication and academic skills provision in a UKHE. It is expected that the role holder will create new partnerships and work closely with key stakeholders in King’s Foundations and across the college. A key part of the role will be to liaise with academic staff, so the role-holder will need to be skilled at building excellent working relationships with academics at all levels, listening to multiple voices and guiding conversations to the most effective way of designing provision. The role holder will work both independently and lead a small team.
They will need to be comfortable operating in an environment where there may be ambiguity and shifting perspectives as trends emerge. This role will be line managed by the Head of Academic Skills based in King’s Foundations. This post-holder will be expected to be involved in a variety of groups and committees with foci on championing embedding academic language and literacy across the college, on enhancing student attainment and improving the student experience across the institution. This new role will be offered on an AEP (Academic Education Pathway) contract and there is a requirement to engage in scholarly activity related to the field of Teaching & Learning. The position will be subject to a probationary period of 3 years in line with other academic roles at the College. This is a great career development opportunity for an ambitious and experienced EAP practitioner or Learning Developer who wants to be part of a growing team leading the development of a cross-College academic literacy and skills offering.
This is a full time post (35 hours), and you will be offered an indefinite contract.
