We are working with a friendly and well-regarded secondary school in Barnet to appoint a proactive School Caretaker for an immediate start. This is a vital role within the premises team, focusing on the security, maintenance, and overall safety of the school site. The school is looking for a reliable individual who takes genuine pride in their work and enjoys being part of a busy educational community.

About the School The school is a high-achieving, 11-18 comprehensive known for its welcoming atmosphere and strong sense of community. It occupies a large site with a mix of traditional and modern buildings, providing a diverse environment for the premises team. The leadership team is highly supportive of support staff, viewing the caretaking team as the backbone of the school’s daily operations.

The Role The successful candidate will be responsible for the daily opening and closing of the school, ensuring the site is secure at all times. Duties include performing minor DIY repairs, decorating, and general maintenance tasks to keep the facilities in top condition. The role also involves overseeing health and safety checks and monitoring the heating and lighting systems.

Requirements

• Experience: Previous experience in caretaking, site maintenance, or a trade-based role is highly desirable.

• Skills: A practical approach with basic plumbing, carpentry, or electrical skills.

• Compliance: The school is unable to offer visa sponsorship; candidates must have the right to work in the UK. A valid enhanced DBS is required.
