Position Overview
In this role you will function as an integral member of the broking team providing professional actuarial services to brokers, clients and prospects. You will work across a wide range of lines of business assisting in providing solutions to clients’ business needs.
You will be part of a growing dynamic team with the opportunity to gain extensive experience ranging from portfolio analysis, structuring reinsurance deals and assisting in alternative capital solutions as well as ad hoc projects.
Essential Responsibilities
- Review accuracy of data and calculations
- Assist in the analysis of risk using data, appropriate models and statistical methods
- Report and assist in interpreting results of actuarial data analysis and produce reports for clients
- Perform data-modelling as well as help convert that data into actionable analysis and reports
- Adhere to established team/personnel objectives as a reflection of company objectives
- Perform required actuarial work in a highly professional and timely manner
- Participate in R&D, and in the improvement and enhancement of existing tools
- Maintain the continuing education requirements as required by the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries
Required Education, Experience and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree from university preferably in Mathematics, Economics, Finance or Business (2:1 minimum)
- Making good progress towards qualification with the IFOA
- Knowledge and understanding of pricing and reserving concepts
- Developmental skills
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively (both written and verbal)
- Ability to interact with all levels of employees with good interpersonal and relationship management skills
- Forward thinker and planner; proactive and uses initiative
- Adapt and respond well to change and pressure
