Cargo Operations and Planning Manager - Premia

About the role
The Cargo Operations and Planning Manager holds ultimate accountability for executing the Premia operational plan by providing clear direction, proactive decision making and communicating effectively to a large team. The Premia facility is a semi automated warehouse operation, unique in its design, and crucial to this role is an ability to manage high quality operational performance whilst using new systems and data to oversee and adjust the performance of the automated elements of the building. Responsibilities include monitoring and reporting on Premia operations' health, tracking and optimising operational performance/systems, driving effective communication with various departments internally and externally, and providing guidance to a team of direct reports. With a focus on continuous improvement, the Cargo Operations and Planning Manager collaborates with stakeholders throughout the organisation to identify and implement business changes. Driving process improvements and devising innovative planning strategies are key parts of this role aimed at enhancing operational outcomes and improving customer experience for our premium product offering.
What you’ll do
Accountable for the performance of the Premia operation whilst leading circa 75 warehouse, data and retail colleagues
Use a range of data sources and an understanding of workflow principles to produce a shift by shift operational plan that maximises performance delivery.
A subject matter expert for the running of the semi-automated warehouse, which is unique in its design worldwide. The role will have control of the warehouse management system and mechanical handling system with the Operations and Planning Manager responsible for ensuring the building and people performance are optimised. An ability to manage and optimise a modern warehouse management system whilst leading a large team is crucial.
Lead local industrial relations discussions with trade unions
Lead, manage and coach a team to ensure productivity and performance targets aremet whilst safety and security are never compromised.
Provide on shift direction and management to operational areas through effective communication, shift briefings and on shift management of a large industrialised workforce.
Analyse and interpret complex situations and respond accordingly to effectively deliver the operational plan.
Accountable manager for Premia’s operational performance when communicating internally within IAG Cargo and with external stakeholders including British Airways, Heathrow Airport and IAG Cargo customers.
Collaborate with service partners to ensure that the environment, facilities, systems, and materials are available to deliver a smooth and efficient operation.
Own Business Contingency Plans and Local Operating Procedures for Premia. Responsible for implementing plans to mitigate operational risk on the day.
Support and take accountability for the delivery of strategic projects, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to drive improvement in the Premia operation.
Support and drive the culture of continuous improvement though lean techniques and leadership.

Knowledge of Regulatory Compliance: Understanding of relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards governing cargo operations, safety, and security
Skills and Experience:
Educated to degree level or relevant working experience
H&S Qualifications (preferred)
Demonstrated experience in people management, including the ability to motivate, coach, and develop teams effectively.
Proficiency in using warehouse management systems or creating logistic delivery plans.
Knowledge of IAG Cargo systems such as iCargo, Cargo Compact, FLY, ATR (not essential)
