? War & Terrorism Underwriter – Lloyd’s Market
Are you an experienced War & Terrorism Underwriter, or an Assistant Underwriter ready to step up into a full underwriting role?
This is an opportunity to join a respected and ambitious specialty team underwriting the full spectrum of War & Terrorism risks across sectors including retail, industrial, leisure, financial services, logistics, energy, mining, and construction.
The syndicate leads a Lloyd’s Consortium with limits up to $100m , offering solutions for complex, global risks and is recognised as one of the market leaders in this space.
The role:
- Underwrite and develop the global War & Terrorism portfolio in line with class strategy and the syndicate’s business plan.
- Manage broker and client relationships, representing the syndicate credibly in London and internationally.
- Assess risks across perils including terrorism, sabotage, strikes/riots/civil commotion, malicious damage, insurrection/rebellion, coup d’état, civil war/war, and NCBR terrorism.
- Contribute to business planning, portfolio monitoring, and product development (including add-on covers such as terrorism liability, denial of access, loss of attraction, and BI extensions).
- Mentor and support junior members of the team while collaborating across underwriting and claims.
What we’re looking for:
- Strong technical underwriting knowledge of War & Terrorism classes with proven London Market experience.
- Excellent geopolitical awareness and ability to translate global events into underwriting decisions.
- Credibility and presence in the Lloyd’s market with strong broker and client relationships.
- Analytical mindset, strong decision-making skills, and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Professional qualifications (e.g. ACII) and relevant academic background (IR, Politics, History) advantageous.
Why this role?
You’ll be joining a syndicate that is ambitious, collaborative, and values-driven, with a reputation for innovation and market leadership in War & Terrorism. This is a chance to underwrite high-profile global risks, contribute to a growing book, and develop alongside respected specialists in the class.
