Early Years SEN Teaching Assistant
About the Role
We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Early Years SEN Teaching Assistant to join our welcoming primary school in Greenwich. This is an exciting opportunity to support our youngest learners in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), helping children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) to achieve their full potential in a nurturing and inclusive environment.
You will work closely with the Early Years team to:
- Support individual children (1:1) with specific developmental or learning needs
- Lead and assist with small group activities to promote communication, social skills, and early learning
- Foster an atmosphere of curiosity, kindness, and independence in the classroom
Key Responsibilities
- Provide tailored support to children with a range of needs, including speech and language delays, autism spectrum conditions, and social or emotional difficulties
- Assist with the delivery of engaging, play-based learning experiences in line with the EYFS framework
- Work collaboratively with the class teacher, SENCO, and external professionals to implement individual support plans and interventions
- Promote positive behaviour, inclusion, and emotional wellbeing
- Support children with personal care needs, where required, in a sensitive and respectful manner
- Maintain accurate records of progress and contribute to assessments and reviews
About You
We are seeking someone who:
- Has experience working with young children in an Early Years or SEN setting
- Is nurturing, patient, and passionate about supporting children's early development
- Can build positive relationships with children, families, and colleagues
- Holds a relevant Early Years or Teaching Assistant qualification (Level 2/3 or equivalent) - desirable but not essential
- Has a strong understanding of child development and inclusive practice
What We Offer
- A warm, supportive, and collaborative Early Years team
- Opportunities for professional growth and SEN-specific training
- A positive and inclusive school culture where every child is valued
- The chance to make a real difference in the early lives of children
