Paid Social Lead

Charlie Oscar
London

At Charlie Oscar, we’re building something different.

We’re a digital agency on a mission to transform how brands grow - one that combines marketing science, creative strategy and AI-enabled execution. At the centre of this is our proprietary MMM platform, COmpass, helping us understand what actually drives growth, not just what looks good on a dashboard.

But what really sets us apart is our ambition.

We’re a fast-growing, independently owned agency - scaling quickly, evolving constantly, and working with some of the most exciting consumer brands in the UK and beyond. We’re not here to maintain the status quo. We’re here to push it.

And that’s where you come in.

We’re looking for a Paid Social Lead who thrives in a high-performance environment and wants to play a key role in shaping the future of paid social at Charlie Oscar.

This is a role for someone who doesn’t just manage campaigns - but owns performance, influences creative direction, and is excited by how AI is redefining the way we work.

You’ll lead our Paid Social function, working closely with our Head of Paid Media, while managing and developing a growing team. You’ll partner with ambitious, fast-scaling brands - helping them unlock growth through smarter strategy, sharper creative, and more intelligent use of data and technology.

WHAT YOU’LL BE GETTING STUCK INTO

Driving performance through Paid Social
You’ll take ownership of paid social strategy and activation across a portfolio of clients - ensuring campaigns are not only well executed, but continuously evolving to deliver stronger results.

From platform strategy and account structure to testing frameworks and budget allocation, you’ll be responsible for building systems that scale.
Creative is the performance lever. You need to own it.

Across Meta, TikTok and every platform we work on, creative is now the primary driver of paid social performance. Targeting has democratised. Budgets matter less than they did. What matters is the needle is the hook, the format, the volume, the variety.
You'll need to understand this deeply. Not as a supporting opinion, but as a core part of how you think about the channel.

In practice, that means:
  • Building creative strategies that drive commercial outcomes - defining asset mix, format priorities and testing frameworks across Meta, TikTok and beyond, with a clear view on what works and why

  • Owning the creative feedback loop - using platform data to identify winning patterns (hooks, formats, messaging, CTAs) and translating those into clear, actionable briefs for creative and production teams

  • Advising clients on creative at scale - many of our clients run hundreds of assets per month. You'll help them build the systems and thinking to produce volume without losing quality

  • Setting a high bar with creative and influencer teams - not directing executions, but holding a strong POV on performance and challenging work that won't deliver

  • Shaping platform-native thinking - understanding how creative behaves differently on Meta vs TikTok vs elsewhere, and building client strategies that reflect those differences

The right person will have clear, evidence-based opinions on creative performance. They'll be able to sit with a client, look at their asset library, and immediately know what's missing, what to test, and what to kill.

This is a media role. But creative intelligence is what separates the best paid social practitioners from the rest.

Embedding AI into how we work
AI is a core part of how we’re building the future of Charlie Oscar.

We already have strong foundations - from AI agents to workflow automation - and we’re looking for someone who is excited to push this further.

You don’t need to have all the answers. But you do need to:

  • Actively use AI tools to improve efficiency and output

  • Explore new tools, platforms and workflows with curiosity

  • Think about how AI can enhance campaign performance, creative testing and reporting

  • Bring energy and ideas into how we evolve as an AI-enabled agency

This is as much about mindset as it is about experience.

Leading and building a high-performing team
You’ll lead and develop our Paid Social team - setting the standard for how we work.

This includes:

  • Line managing and mentoring Paid Social Managers and Executives

  • Creating a culture of accountability, curiosity and continuous improvement

  • Building development plans and helping individuals reach their potential

  • Reviewing output and ensuring consistently high standards

We’re a growing business, so you’ll also play a key role in shaping the future structure and capability of the team.

Partnering with clients
You’ll act as a strategic partner to our clients - bringing clarity, confidence and commercial thinking to every interaction.

From performance reviews to growth planning, you’ll help clients understand what’s working, what’s next, and where to invest.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

We’re less focused on “perfect backgrounds” and more focused on how you think and how you show up.

That said, you’ll likely bring:

  • Strong experience leading Paid Social for performance-focused, consumer brands (D2C ideal)

  • Deep platform expertise across Meta and TikTok (others a bonus)

  • A proven track record of driving customer acquisition and scalable growth

  • Confidence in shaping and leading creative strategy for paid social

  • Experience managing and developing a team

  • A naturally analytical mindset, with the ability to turn data into action

And importantly:

  • A genuine curiosity for AI and how it can transform the way we work

  • A high-performance mindset - you’re ambitious, proactive and always looking to improve

  • Energy, enthusiasm and a point of view - whether that’s in your work or your interests outside of it

BENEFITS:

  • Competitive salary plus opportunity to earn a performance based bonus paid every 6 months

  • Wellness allowance including access to Bupa private health care

  • Pension plan

  • Regular team socials and annual company away day

  • Hybrid working (4 days in the office, 1 day from home)

  • 25 days’ holiday per year, plus bank holidays and flexible time over Christmas

  • 4 weeks ‘Work From Anywhere’ per year

  • Birthday off

  • Cycle to Work Scheme with Forest Bikes

  • Eye care vouchers

  • Regular office treats and surprises

  • Be part of building something truly exceptional

WHAT MAKES US US - OUR VALUES
At Charlie Oscar, our values aren’t just posters on the wall – they show up in how we work, how we treat each other, and how we build something brilliant together.

Make It Happen
Momentum matters, progress beats perfection every time.

Treat It Like Your Own
Think like an owner. Care for every detail as if it were your money, your brand, your business.

Grow Together
Build the business, lift your team, and invest in your own growth along the way.

Be Brave
We create space for bold thinking, confident decisions, and the freedom to back yourself.
