Economics Teacher Role in an Outstanding Secondary School
An Outstanding Secondary School in Waltham Forest is seeking to appoint an ambitious and knowledgeable Economics Teacher to join its highly successful Social Sciences department from September. About the Role
The successful candidate will teach Economics at Key Stage 5, delivering engaging and rigorous lessons that develop students’ analytical, evaluative, and quantitative skills.
Students study a full A-Level Economics curriculum covering microeconomics and macroeconomics, including market structures, market failure, government intervention, inflation, unemployment, fiscal and monetary policy, international trade, and globalisation. You will prepare students for A-Level examinations while supporting them in applying economic theory to current global events and real-world case studies.
You will also contribute to enrichment opportunities such as economics societies, university preparation sessions, essay competitions, guest speaker events, and extension activities designed to stretch high-achieving students.
Key Responsibilities
Teach Economics at KS5
Deliver engaging, challenging, and well-structured lessons
Prepare students for A-Level Economics examinations
Develop students’ analytical, evaluative, and quantitative skills
Assess progress and provide high-quality feedback
Contribute to curriculum planning and departmental development
Support enrichment activities and university preparation programmes

Candidate Requirements
Essential Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Experience teaching Economics at KS5
Strong subject knowledge in Economics
Ability to deliver engaging and challenging A-Level lessons
Excellent classroom management and communication skills
Desirable
Experience teaching Business Studies or related subjects
Experience supporting university applications (e.g., Oxbridge/LSE pathways)
Ability to contribute to enrichment and extension activities
Strong track record of student achievement
