Caretaker | Richmond
A busy primary school in Richmond is seeking a professional Caretaker to join the site team from January 2026. The Caretaker will be responsible for site security, planned maintenance, routine cleaning oversight and responding to day-to-day facilities issues. Induction and handover will be provided prior to January 2026, with the Caretaker starting in post from January 2026.

• Caretaker to manage day-to-day site tasks and provide a reliable presence for the school community
In Richmond, the Caretaker will coordinate maintenance schedules, ensure compliance with statutory checks, carry out minor repairs and support the smooth running of school operations. The Caretaker will also support external contractors, manage waste and recycling systems and ensure that grounds and entrances are tidy and safe for pupils and parents.
Responsibilities
Conduct daily security and safety checks, unlock/lock premises and maintain logbooks.
Undertake small repairs, maintain heating/lighting systems and report major faults promptly.
Keep external areas clear, manage bin collections and maintain paths for safe access.
Support event setup and lettings, liaising with staff and hirers to meet site requirements.
Ensure compliance with H&S checks and keep accurate records for the Richmond site.
Person specification
Practical facilities or caretaking experience and strong DIY skills.
Health & safety aware, able to manage contractors and maintain accurate records.
Reliable, flexible and able to start January 2026, with pre-start handover and induction before January 2026.
