Teaching Assistant | Islington
A popular primary school in Islington is seeking a reliable Teaching Assistant to join the staff from January 2026. The Teaching Assistant will support whole-class teaching, run targeted phonics and numeracy groups, assist with behaviour strategies and help prepare resources. The Teaching Assistant will collaborate with class teachers and the SENCo to ensure interventions are effective and that pupils receive appropriate scaffolding. The Teaching Assistant will help create an inclusive classroom environment, support assessment procedures and communicate progress to teachers and families. In Islington, the Teaching Assistant will be part of a team committed to professional development and pupil wellbeing.
Responsibilities
- Deliver targeted support in reading, phonics and maths to individuals and small groups.
- Assist teachers with planning and classroom preparation to ensure smooth lesson delivery.
- Support behaviour management and help pupils develop positive learning habits.
- Maintain accurate records of progress and contribute to intervention reviews in Islington.
- Participate in whole-school events and support a welcoming school environment.
Person specification
- Experience working in school settings or with children, with confidence delivering support as a Teaching Assistant.
- Strong interpersonal skills, reliability and a proactive attitude to supporting teachers and pupils.
- Able to start January 2026 and to undertake pre-start induction and training in Islington.
