EYFS Teaching Assistant - Greenwich
We are seeking a caring, enthusiastic, and reliable EYFS Teaching Assistant to join a friendly and inclusive primary school in Greenwich, starting ASAP. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about early years education and supporting young children during a crucial stage of their development.
The school offers a nurturing and well-resourced early years setting where children are encouraged to explore, learn, and grow in a safe and stimulating environment. Staff work closely as a team and are supported by experienced leaders who value early years practice and professional development.
As an EYFS Teaching Assistant, you will support the class teacher in delivering engaging, play-based learning activities and provide individual or small-group support to pupils. You will play an important role in helping children develop confidence, independence, and positive learning behaviours.
Key Responsibilities
Support the EYFS teacher with daily classroom activities
Provide 1:1 and small-group support to children as required
Assist with play-based learning and structured activities
Support children’s personal, social, and emotional development
Help maintain a safe, clean, and stimulating learning environment
Observe and record children’s progress under teacher guidance
Support routines such as snack time, toileting, and outdoor play
Encourage positive behaviour and independence
Communicate effectively with staff and parents when appropriate
Follow safeguarding and school policies at all times
The Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will:
Have experience working with young children, ideally in EYFS
Be caring, patient, and enthusiastic
Have a good understanding of early years development
Be proactive and able to work as part of a team
Have strong communication and interpersonal skills
Be reliable and flexible in approach
Be committed to safeguarding and promoting child welfare
The school is based in Greenwich, with good transport links and a welcoming local community. You will be joining a supportive team in a positive and well-structured early years setting.
