Attendance Officer – Inclusive Secondary School – Hackney (East London)

We are seeking a dedicated, organised and proactive Attendance Officer to join an inclusive and well-structured secondary school in Hackney. This is a key role within the pastoral and administrative team, focused on promoting excellent attendance, supporting students and ensuring that robust systems are in place to monitor and improve attendance across the school.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the daily monitoring and recording of student attendance, ensuring that registers are accurate and that absences are followed up promptly. You will work closely with pastoral leaders, teaching staff and families to identify patterns of absence and implement appropriate interventions to support students in attending regularly and punctually.
This role requires someone with strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills and the ability to manage sensitive situations professionally. You will be expected to build positive relationships with students and families, helping to remove barriers to attendance and supporting the school’s commitment to safeguarding and inclusion.
As Attendance Officer, you will analyse attendance data, produce reports and contribute to strategies that promote high levels of attendance. You will also ensure that all procedures are compliant with school policies and statutory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
• Monitor and record daily student attendance accurately
• Follow up absences with parents and carers
• Analyse attendance data and identify trends
• Work with pastoral staff to support students with attendance concerns
• Maintain accurate records and produce reports
• Ensure compliance with attendance and safeguarding procedures
Requirements:
• Experience in an administrative or school-based role
• Strong organisational and data management skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work with sensitivity and professionalism
• Good IT skills and experience with data systems
• Commitment to student wellbeing and safeguarding
